James Blunt, 51, debuts auburn dye job and youthful looks after admitting he likes cosmetic surgery ‘little and often’ as he attends christening of Princess Beatrice’s daughter Athena

James Blunt debuted a fresh new appearance while attending the christening of Princess Beatrice’s daughter, Athena, on Friday, joining other celebrity guests at the event.

The 51-year-old singer, known for saying he prefers frequent, small cosmetic procedures, still looks remarkably young.

James used to have long, dark brown hair, but now he has a neater haircut with reddish-brown highlights.

He arrived at the Chapel Royal in St James’s Palace dressed in a stylish grey suit with a long jacket and a burgundy striped tie.

Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, recently held a celebration for their daughter Athena, who was born a few weeks early in January. The event brought together their closest friends and family.

I’ve known James for years, and it’s fascinating to see his connections! Through his wife, Sofia Wellesley – whose grandfather was the 8th Duke of Wellington – he’s been friendly with the Royal Family for a long time. He actually grew up knowing William and Harry, going way back to their teenage years. It’s lovely to see such a longstanding relationship.

The singer hinted at getting cosmetic procedures during an October appearance on the show This Morning last year.

James received a lot of questions from callers during the ITV show, including one from a fan eager to know his secret to having such great skin at age 50.

The actor said he simply washes his face with soap daily, and then surprisingly revealed he also uses Botox.

James told the caller: ‘My philosophy with plastic surgery is little and often’.

The caller was shocked by the confession and was left speechless. Hosts Dermot and Alison reacted with surprised laughter.

This isn’t the first time the singer has been questioned over his skin care.

In a 2022 interview on BBC Breakfast, hosts Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty asked the singer about whether they had undergone plastic surgery.

After a series of music videos finished playing, Charlie turned to the singer and playfully remarked, ‘You seem to be getting younger – mind if I comment on that?’

He added: ‘Looking at that video a moment ago, and looking at you now – what’s going on?’

James seemed surprised and responded, ‘I’d recommend getting plastic surgery in small increments, rather than one big procedure.’

Charlie pointed out that others would likely see it as a deceptive tactic, but James flatly denied that was the case.

After an uncomfortable silence, James added: ‘I just… I don’t know where to go from here.’

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank attended the christening at Clarence House, joining other European royals like Princess Nina of Greece and Denmark, who is also a godmother to the child.

The King received an invitation but isn’t anticipated to be present, despite having no scheduled commitments today. Princess Anne is unable to attend because she will be at the Sovereign’s Parade at The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in Camberley, Berkshire.

I was surprised to learn that while Princes George and Louis both had their christenings at the Chapel Royal, Prince William and Kate aren’t planning to attend a service there anytime soon. It’s a bit of a change from tradition, but I’m sure they have their reasons.

Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, were seen in public together for the first time in a while as they attended the christening of their granddaughter, Athena.

Athena’s christening was likely planned for earlier this year, but a family scandal involving her grandparents caused a delay. Her sister, Sienna, who is now four years old, was baptised in 2022, just a few months after she was born.

Andrew won’t be in any official photos from the christening, and he’s planning to stay away from cameras outside the chapel.
