Mark Beretta was seen looking happy with his new girlfriend, Renata Hickson, this week.
After 20 years as the sports presenter on the popular Sunrise breakfast show, 59-year-old Channel Seven veteran said an emotional goodbye on Friday.
It seems Mark marked the occasion with a celebratory lunch date with Renata in Manly.
Mark wasn’t the only one celebrating, though – his colleague Larry Emdur from Channel Seven joined them for the special night.
Mark looked athletic and stylish in a red Helly Hansen sailing jacket worn over a light grey collared shirt.
The sports presenter also wore a pair of bone-coloured shorts that finished just above the knee.
He finished his casual look with a pair of well-worn New Balance sneakers and white ankle socks.
Renata was wearing a brown and striped collared shirt, and she rolled up the sleeves to her elbows.
She completed her look with a short, white skirt that highlighted her fit legs, and a pair of green and gold Adidas SL-72 sneakers.
Renata styled her brown hair in a ponytail and completed her look with a brown leather crossbody bag and delicate gold earrings.
Larry arrived at the lunch meeting wearing a casual outfit: a blue linen shirt, black jeans, and white sneakers.
He was also carrying a bottle of his favorite whisky, The Ben Buckler, likely as a present for someone he worked with at Channel Seven.
Mark seemed eager to be a gentleman, assisting Renata as she exited the car when they arrived for the lunch.
Mark became visibly upset on live television during Friday’s Sunrise broadcast after receiving a moving phone call from Australian sporting icon Cathy Freeman.
He got emotional while sharing with Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington that the Olympian had phoned him to send her best wishes.
His voice then broke with emotion as he reflected on all the amazing times they had shared.
After Mark shared his news, many Australian celebrities reached out to offer their support, including Colin Fassnidge, Harry Garside, and Ricky Ponting.
Last month, Mark announced his departure from Sunrise after 30 years at Channel Seven.
‘After 30 years working with the Seven Network and after a lot of long nights and thinking about it, the time is right for me to step away from Sunrise,’ he said.
I’ve always dreamed of working in this field and in sports, and it’s brought me incredible experiences and memories beyond anything I could have imagined.
He explained he was stepping away from his role to spend more time with his family.
After losing my dad to cancer just two months ago, and with my mum now battling the same illness, it’s changed my perspective on things,” he explained.
Spending time with family is a top priority for me right now. I also want to increase my support for Tour de Cure and their vital efforts to discover cancer treatments and cures.
Mark said he still has many projects planned for the future.
Okay, so the Daily Mail just dropped the biggest news! Mark is dating Renata! She’s incredible – a decorated soldier and she basically runs things at the Indigenous Marathon Foundation. Apparently, she’s been his rock this whole year, which, honestly, makes so much sense. He’s been through so much, and she sounds like exactly who he needs. I’m seriously so happy for him!
The popular Sunrise host hasn’t been publicly seen dating anyone since his divorce, though there were rumors of a brief relationship with nutritionist Sarah Di Lorenzo.
Mark and Rachel got married in 2001 after first meeting in 1999. They announced their separation in October 2023, ending a marriage of 22 years.
They share children Ava and Ben, and are grandparents to Ava’s young son, Arlo.
Mark announced earlier this year that he and Rach had decided to separate after 22 years of marriage, following a lot of thought and discussion.
We’re still close friends, and our children and grandchildren are what matter most to us as we navigate the future with kindness and mutual respect.
