Has South Park Been Season 29 Been Canceled or Renewed?

Fans are wondering if South Park will be back for a Season 29. The show, created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, follows four friends in the town of South Park and their often wild and funny adventures. These adventures can range from spooky and unusual to everyday problems, often with a satirical take on current events. Now that Season 28 has finished, people are eager to find out if there will be more episodes.

Has Comedy Central canceled South Park or renewed it for Season 29?

Don’t worry, South Park hasn’t been canceled! Comedy Central has actually renewed the show through Season 30, meaning it will continue airing until 2027.

MTV announced in 2021 that new seasons of South Park are planned all the way through 2031, extending the show to Season 30. The most recent season had just five episodes, and concluded with an episode called “The Crap Out” which aired on December 10th.

The story centers on Satan biding his time while Stan frantically prays to prevent an impending crisis. Their last hope hinges on a Christmas miracle to ensure the Antichrist arrives as planned. Given the unpredictable release schedule of the last few seasons, with numerous delays between episodes, it’s difficult to predict when Season 29 will premiere. However, a likely release window is sometime in 2026.

Chris McCarthy, head of MTV Entertainment and Paramount+ Adult Animation, announced the renewal and praised creators Matt and Trey. He stated that their clever and often shocking humor perfectly captures the ridiculousness of modern life, and he’s thrilled to continue working with them to boost both Paramount+ and Comedy Central. He emphasized that extending popular shows like South Park and partnering with talented creators is key to the ongoing growth of Paramount+.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone shared that Comedy Central has been their creative home for 25 years, and they’re thrilled the network is committed to supporting them for another 75. They explained that ViacomCBS gave them the freedom to experiment with something different when they first arrived, and that risk ultimately paid off.

We’re excited to return to making classic South Park episodes, and we’re also happy to experiment with new formats. We appreciate having partners who are willing to take risks with us.
