Netflix’s “twisty” psychological thriller that will ‘keep you guessing’ gets first trailer

The first trailer is out for “His & Hers,” Netflix’s new series starring Tessa Thompson, which is described as both alluring and full of unexpected turns.

I’m really excited about this new show! It’s got Jon Bernthal from The Bear, and it’s about these two people, Anna Andrews and Jack Harper, who both live in Georgia and somehow get tangled up in this crazy murder. It’s only six episodes, so it shouldn’t be a huge time commitment, which is perfect for me.

Inspired by Alice Feeney’s suspenseful novel (according to Amazon reviews), the series follows reporter Anna Thompson as she returns to her hometown of Dahlonega, Georgia, after a woman is found murdered in the nearby woods. Detective Jack Bernthal is in charge of solving the case.

The trailer shows that Anna and Jack are married but have grown apart, and each of them is suspicious of the other, wondering if they’re involved in the murder.

Anna narrates, ‘Every story has two perspectives – our side and their side, your side and my side, his and hers. And that inevitably means someone isn’t telling the whole truth.’

I’m really excited about this series because it’s being developed by William Oldroyd! He’s the director who gave us Lady Macbeth, and that movie was incredible – it really put Florence Pugh on the map. Knowing his style, I have a feeling this new series is going to be something special.

Joining the cast of His & Hers are Pablo Schreiber, playing Richard, Anna’s cameraman, and Crystal Fox as Alice, Anna’s mother who resides in Dahlonega.

Sunita Mani plays Officer Priya, Jack’s partner, and Rebecca Rittenhouse is Lexy Jones, a driven journalist who took over as the main news anchor when Anna departed. The cast also includes Marin Ireland, Poppy Liu, and Chris Bauer.

Thompson executive produced the new Netflix series, His & Hers, with Dee Jones (from Nashville) serving as showrunner. It will begin streaming on January 8th.

Thompson shared in October that she became very enthusiastic about the project after talking with Oldroyd.

The actor shared with Tudum how thrilled they are to be working with a filmmaker they’ve always respected and a fantastic crew on a new project in a genre they love.

I was captivated from the very beginning – first when I learned what Will planned to do with Alice Feeney’s fantastic book, and then when I visited the town where the story takes place.

His & Hers premieres on Netflix on 8 January 2026.
