Taylor Swift surprised a small audience in New York City by making a special appearance, just ahead of the premiere of her docuseries, ‘The End of an Era,’ on December 12th – the day before her 36th birthday.
When a small group of reporters previewed the first two episodes of her six-part documentary on Tuesday, it soon became clear that we were sitting near some of the most unexpected and popular fans featured in The Eras Tour.
Jan Ravnik, recently seen on Dancing With the Stars, and Kam Saunders, who gained fame touring the world with a popular singer for nearly two years, were calmly waiting for the screening to start.
When Taylor Swift’s mother, Andrea, entered the small movie showing, it was clear that Taylor’s career was about to take off.
As the music for “Ready For It” began, the audience immediately quieted down as the famous singer confidently walked onto the small stage. She was wearing a now-signature outfit: a very short plaid skirt with tights, high boots, and a black top. After the show, I had a chance to meet her and learned that her skirt was from Miu Miu and her top was Alaia.
The music superstar announced to the audience that her Eras Tour had actually finished ‘a year and one day ago,’ though it felt much longer, ‘like a lifetime ago.’

Seeing Taylor Swift in person—not just during her incredible Eras Tour (where I went twice)—creates a strange feeling. She seems both like a huge celebrity and a regular millennial living in New York City. She’s clearly a seasoned performer with a polished charm, but she also feels surprisingly down-to-earth and approachable.
Taylor Swift celebrated with the team behind her recent project, including directors Don Argott and Sheena M. Joyce, choreographer Mandy Moore, her dancers, and her family – her dad, Scott, and brother, Austin. Hoda Kotb, Willie Geist, and Gayle King were also there to join the celebration.
Taylor Swift, who began performing at age 14 and will turn 36 on December 13 – a date she considers lucky – told the enthusiastic audience that this tour felt like a culmination of her life’s work. She shared that throughout her career, she’s been focused on mastering the art of entertaining and giving people an escape from their everyday lives.
The Grammy-winning artist shared that the series isn’t just about her own career. It also highlights the contributions of her dancers, choreographers, and singers – many of whom have worked with her since the beginning, when she was first starting out performing at radio events and local fairs.
Taylor said the upcoming streaming event will share stories about the incredible feeling and unexpected success of everything coming together perfectly – the kind of thing that feels like fate.
Taylor Swift’s history-making tour not only entertained millions but also significantly boosted economies around the world – a phenomenon dubbed ‘Swiftonomics.’ The tour featured incredible, 3.5-hour performances each night, totaling 149 shows across five continents.
This series is primarily for Taylor Swift’s biggest fans – those eager to learn behind-the-scenes details about her concerts, like what happens when she talks with her team or how she gets to the stage unnoticed.
Although the film won’t reveal much about Taylor Swift’s private life, it’s sure to please her fans and make them feel like they’re seeing The Eras Tour with fresh eyes – even if they’ve already been to multiple shows and spent a lot of money on tickets.

The documentary gives those who couldn’t attend the concert a behind-the-scenes look at how it all came together, from the dance routines to the arrival of stars like Sabrina Carpenter, Ed Sheeran, and Florence Welch. And for those who were there, it’s a chance to relive the experience – maybe even spot themselves in the crowd, sharing a heartfelt TikTok, trading friendship bracelets, or caught up in the emotion of the night.
We do see glimpses of Taylor Swift’s relationship with Travis Kelce, her current fiancé. Interestingly, her complicated ten-year connection with Matty Healy, the singer of The 1975 – a relationship that heavily influenced her album The Tortured Poets Department – isn’t mentioned. That album was later included in the setlist for her Eras Tour.
When guests entered the theatre, they each received a red and white popcorn bag, but surprisingly, no one was eating any. They were likely captivated by the performance, or perhaps they didn’t want to make noise while Taylor was present.
During the movie, the fire alarm kept going off, and we worried we might have to leave. I even found myself thinking about what it would be like to see Taylor Swift participating in a fire drill in a regular office building! We later found out there had been a small fire, and someone joked that maybe it was started by a fan hoping to meet her.
It was clear, both in the documentary and seeing them live, that Taylor’s dancers truly love and admire her.
Maroon 5’s Adam Levine is known for being a generous employer. He once gave his performers and crew a remarkable $197 million in bonuses, in addition to their regular pay, and even included handwritten notes with each bonus.
During the performance, the dancers celebrated when the spotlight hit them. There was a particularly touching moment when Kam, who had become a popular performer both on stage and online, appeared on screen – the audience began to sob, and even Taylor, sitting beside him, was visibly crying.
As soon as the song “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince” began, the dancers excitedly cheered and started performing some of the choreography themselves.

Following the film screening, reporters were amazed when they got a chance to meet Taylor, who surprisingly recognized many of them from her long career in entertainment. Even experienced music journalists admitted to feeling nervous before speaking with the singer, who made an effort to talk to each one.
She really does look like she does in her photos and videos, and she’s just as nice in person as she seems online. She even complimented my dress and asked where I got it – it’s from Sandro, by the way.
We discussed Travis spending his off-season in Boca Raton, Florida, where photos surfaced of him training for the upcoming Kansas City Chiefs season. Interestingly, she’s actually been to Destin, a popular spring break spot in Florida, which she mentions in her song “Florida!”
Taylor Swift is widely considered one of the world’s biggest stars, and she has a unique ability to seem both incredibly famous and surprisingly down-to-earth.
It’s no surprise her concerts sold out worldwide. Her songs feel deeply personal, and many young women who’ve come of age alongside her really connect with them. As someone her age – happy birthday, Taylor! – I’ve experienced similar life events at roughly the same time, like tough breakups and heartbreak. That’s why I’m proud to be one of her dedicated fans – and I definitely let her know!
The documentary series reveals Taylor understands a key to her incredible popularity and songwriting success: her fans connect with her and the personal experiences she openly shares in her songs. Now, she’s giving viewers a glimpse behind the scenes of her life.
Even though The Eras Tour has ended, this documentary gives fans—and anyone interested in pop culture—an inside look at what it’s like to be a performer on that incredible tour, and all the hard work that went into putting on a three-hour show night after night.
