Jim Ward dead at 66: Beloved voice actor for Nickelodeon’s The Fairly OddParents and iconic video games passes away

Jim Ward – best known for his voice work on Nickelodeon’s The Fairly OddParents has died at 66.

Throughout his impressive career, the popular actor famously provided the voice for many well-known characters in cartoons and video games.

It’s with a heavy heart that I share the news of Ward’s passing. His wife, Janice, let us know he passed away peacefully on Wednesday at 10:45am. He had been bravely battling advanced Alzheimer’s, and sadly, complications from the disease were too much. He will be deeply missed.

She also shared that he was receiving care at Silverado Beverly Place Memory Care when he died.

He was best known for playing Doug Dimmadome and Chet Ubetcha on The Fairly OddParents.

Dimmadome created and owns Dimmsdale Dimmadome, a landmark in the fictional city of Dimmadelphia.

Ubetcha was the news reporter for Dimmsdale’s television news broadcast, Channel 7 News.

He was a voice actor for both cartoons and popular video games, including the 2005 survival horror game Resident Evil 4.

As a fan of compelling characters, I’ve always been fascinated by Jack Krauser. I played him as a seasoned agent working for a shadowy group—the 3rd Organization—during a time of global conflict. It was fantastic to revisit that role in both Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, really fleshing out his story and motivations.

I was so thrilled to see him in ‘The Thing: Remastered’ last year! It was a video game that continued the story from the original 1982 movie by John Carpenter, and it was amazing to revisit that world.
