Davina McCall breaks her silence after secretly marrying hairdresser fiancé Michael Douglas as she praises her ‘lovely’ new husband and shares a touching love poem

Davina McCall has revealed she secretly married her fiancé, Michael Douglas, on Friday. This comes after she recently shared details about her health challenges.

Oh my gosh, did you SEE?! She posted about him again! My queen, she’s 58 and he’s 49, and she called him ‘lovely’ on Instagram! But it wasn’t just that – she shared this beautiful poem, and she actually called it ‘extraordinary’! I’m seriously living for their love story, it’s just… everything!

Davina recently married her partner, just three months after he proposed to her during a romantic getaway to Ibiza.

The couple had two wedding celebrations: a small, private ceremony with close family and friends, followed by a larger reception for a wider circle of loved ones, according to The Sun.

Michael has been a steadfast partner to Davina, supporting her through both brain tumor removal surgery and a recent breast cancer diagnosis.

Everyone’s been saying the presenter decided to get married now because of their recent health scares. It seems like those issues really made them want to commit and celebrate life with their partner.

Davina shared a video of a poem by Harry Baker on Thursday, calling it ‘extraordinary.’

The poem wasn’t about grand gestures; it celebrated the simple, shared moments. It wasn’t about fancy gifts or celebrations, but about things like working alongside someone, or sharing a comforting cup of tea from a well-loved mug.

It’s not just a little craving for chocolate. It’s become a full-blown obsession – I’m eating like those kids in the story, Bruce Bogtrotter and Augustus Gloop!

I choose pizza and a cozy night in with you over anything fancy. Sometimes, you just need simple comfort food.

Davina shared Michael’s newest hairdressing video and added a sweet message, playfully writing, “@mdlondon tips. Michael ur lovely.”

According to a source, the couple’s wedding was exactly as they envisioned – a small, intimate gathering. They held the ceremony at a venue near their home and invited only about ten close friends and family members to celebrate with them.

The ceremony was a very personal and meaningful event, shared with people who are incredibly important to the couple. After a challenging few months with Davina’s health, they felt ready to make their commitment official and didn’t want to delay.

The following day, life went back to normal for them. Interestingly enough, they ended up attending another friend’s wedding.

They celebrated their first weekend as a couple, proudly displaying her wedding ring. It was a truly wonderful time.

Davina and Michael have been friends for many years. They first met when Davina was hosting Big Brother at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire, and Michael was working there as a talented hairdresser.

After McCall’s 17-year marriage to Matthew Robertson, and following their separation in 2017, her friendship with someone else blossomed into a romantic relationship. Robertson is the father of her three children.

The presenter revealed in October that Douglas had proposed to her during a romantic getaway to Ibiza.

She remembered being surprised when Michael proposed to her back in September while they were on the Chris Evans Virgin Radio Show. He’d arranged a special lunch on a beach – a place they’d often visited with their children – and that’s where he popped the question.

I thought it was lovely, and then he suggested we walk along the cliffs. I was wearing these ridiculous little pink cowboy boots – the kind with steel toes – and definitely wasn’t dressed for hiking! I could tell he was really hoping I’d enjoy it, and that it would please him.

I remember thinking he was trying to show me something lovely. So I told myself to stop feeling sorry for myself and climb the hill.

A friend close to the couple shared with The Sun that she was engaged earlier in the month, but was only wearing her engagement ring privately.

This is fantastic news, and everyone who knows the couple is delighted. They truly are a beautiful pair.

Douglas supported McCall after doctors found a rare cyst – affecting only three in a million people – on her brain.

Doctors surgically removed a cyst from the presenter, as they were concerned it could become a serious health issue if left to grow.

Even though I fully recovered, I was really worried after my operation about whether Douglas still wanted to be with me. It honestly made me question things, and I wasn’t sure where we stood.

In an interview on Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast, she explained that her husband, Michael, never usually had trouble being around her. However, she noted that he once mentioned she would sometimes ask him the same question repeatedly, like seven times within half an hour.

He needed to step away for a moment, but I was able to stay. It felt strange, because this wasn’t how things usually were for us. It wasn’t our everyday life.

‘I had long-term memory. I could remember… and I thought, “Oh, he doesn’t want to be with me.”

Eventually, we talked it over, and he reassured me, saying, “I do love you, and I definitely want to be with you.”

Little more than a month ago, the presenter confirmed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

According to friends, her health concerns led her to rush into marriage with Douglas, rather than carefully plan the wedding. They originally thought about getting married in January.

Oh my gosh, I just read this and it totally gets to me! Apparently, after everything Davina’s been through – and can you believe she’s had two health scares?! – she’s saying she’s finally realized you can’t take anything for granted. It’s like, it really hit her hard that life is precious and she knows now who and what truly matters to her. I’m so glad she’s figuring things out, she deserves all the happiness!

Michael and Davina don’t want to waste any time. Both in their fifties, and with Davina having been married previously, they’re eager to move forward with their relationship.

According to a source close to her, she’s always dreamed of a large wedding, but it sounds like she’s now planning something much more intimate and low-key. She prefers to keep things simple and doesn’t want a lot of attention.

The wedding will center around the couple and their relationship. While they plan to have a large celebration with friends and colleagues later, they’re aiming to get married early next year.

I’m so grateful for Lorraine Kelly’s Change + Check campaign! I learned that it was actually the posters they had up at ITV studios that helped McCall recognize the signs of breast cancer. It’s amazing to think something so simple could be so impactful – it might have saved her life!

Last November, she shared with her Instagram followers that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She explained she’d discovered a lump a few weeks prior, which appeared and disappeared.

While I was filming The Masked Singer, the show’s team put up signs in the restrooms reminding people to check for breast lumps. Every time I used the restroom, I did a self-check, and I noticed something was still there.

I recently had a biopsy that confirmed I had breast cancer. I had a lumpectomy to remove it almost three weeks ago.

The speaker emphasized that her cancer was detected early, but she’ll still need five days of radiation therapy in January as a precaution to ensure it doesn’t return.

I was very fortunate to have it caught so early because it was quite small. I’m incredibly relieved it’s been removed and hasn’t spread anywhere else.

I was initially upset when I learned about it, but I’ve moved past that and feel much better now.

It’s important to be familiar with your breasts and be aware of any changes. Don’t delay – get regular checkups, and always investigate any new or unusual symptoms. Sending you lots of love and support.

Jenna McCall first married Andrew Leggett in 1997, but later married Robertson in 2000.

She has three children with the Pet Rescue presenter, Holly, 23, Tilly, 21, and son Chester, 19.
