Overwatch 2’s Winterland 2025 event brings back popular game modes, including Yeti Hunter. Here’s a guide to help you win, whether you’re playing as the Yeti (Winston) or the Hunter (Mei)!

Overwatch 2 Yeti Hunter explained

In Overwatch 2’s Yeti Hunter mode, you’ll start by choosing to play as either a hunter or the yeti. You can also choose to let the game decide for you. If you’re a hunter playing as Mei, you’ll team up with four other players. If you’re the yeti, Winston, you’ll play the game on your own.

Overwatch 2 Yeti Hunter Winston tips

If you choose to play as Yeti Winston alone, you’ll start the match inside a cave. Follow the orange markers and collect meat to power up. Once you’ve eaten four pieces of meat, your special ability, Primal Rage, will automatically activate – use it! Your mission is to defeat all five Hunter Mei opponents before they can respawn.

As Winston in Yeti Hunter, play him like you normally would. Jump on top of Mei to hurt her, and use your bubble shield to protect yourself. Also, jump around the map to make it harder for Mei to keep up with you.

Overwatch 2 Yeti Hunter Mei tips

When playing as Hunter Mei, coordinate with your team to anticipate Yeti Winston’s movements, find him, and freeze him to inflict damage. The objective is to reduce his health to zero. Be careful, though – if Winston eats four pieces of meat, he’ll unleash a powerful ultimate ability. You can see how long it lasts by watching the bar above the “Run for your Life” message on your screen. Winston’s current health is displayed just above that message.

Hunter Mei plays much like her regular version, with the biggest change being her ultimate ability. In Yeti Hunter mode, her ultimate becomes a massive Junkrat trap. You can also freeze Yeti Winston by left-clicking on him. Remember to use Cryo-Freeze to recover health and Ice Wall to block Winston’s path, reach high ground, or protect yourself and your allies.

As part of the Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland event, playing matches will help you complete special challenges. These challenges reward you with Winter Wonderland Cookies, which you can use to get loot boxes, skip tiers in the Overwatch 2 Season 20 Battle Pass, and unlock cool skins like Frozen Junkrat and Frozen Cassidy, plus other items!
