Gerard Butler’s “truly underrated” revenge thriller lands new UK streaming home

A popular movie starring Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx is now available on a streaming service in the UK and Ireland, and viewers are still enthusiastically recommending it.

The 2009 thriller Law Abiding Citizen centers on Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler), a skilled former CIA engineer. After his wife and daughter are tragically killed during a home invasion, he sets out to get revenge.

Director F. Gary Gray’s film elevates the typical revenge thriller with an unexpected plot twist.

So, I finally tracked down Clarence Darby – the guy who killed those two people – and I let the cops take him. But honestly, that wasn’t the end of it. He’s still pulling the strings from inside prison, continuing his whole scheme even while he’s locked up. It’s pretty messed up.

Facing off against Clyde is Nick Rice, a prosecutor from Philadelphia who works for Foxx. He previously tried to convict Darby but couldn’t because of errors with the evidence, so he ended up offering Darby a plea bargain instead.

Now available on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland, Law Abiding Citizen stars Gerard Butler alongside Viola Davis and Leslie Bibb.

Despite mostly negative reviews from critics, audiences are enjoying the movie Law Abiding Citizen, praising its strong performances and calling it one of the best revenge thrillers out there.

One Reddit user called the movie seriously underrated, but advised first-time viewers that it’s a pretty intense watch. They simply wrote, “Love this one.”

Someone else commented that the movie’s ratings seem off, saying it’s enjoyable and features good acting. While it’s not a perfect film, they’re confused by the negative reactions.

A third person enthused: “Top 1 revenge flick. Also one of Jamie Foxx’s best dramatic turns imo.”

“I just watched this again the other day. Omg what an insanely good movie,” another fan wrote.

I really enjoyed how the movie’s central idea makes you wonder if the main character is actually the villain all along.

Butler and Foxx are joining forces for the sports comedy All-Star Weekend, which is also Foxx’s first time directing a movie.

The movie, written and produced by Jamie Foxx, centers on two lifelong friends, Malik (played by Foxx) and Danny (Jeremy Piven), who are huge NBA fans. Their trip to see their favorite players – LeBron James and Stephen Curry – at the All-Star Game takes a dangerous turn.

The star-studded film also features Eva Longoria, Robert Downey Jr, Ken Jeong and Benicio del Toro.
