Simon Cowell FINALLY reveals wedding plans to Lauren Silverman after she changed her name

Simon Cowell hinted that a wedding is coming soon now that his fiancée, Lauren Silverman, has officially changed her last name.

Music executive Simon Cowell and his partner Lauren have given viewers a look into their lives with the new Netflix docuseries, The Next Act. The show documents Simon’s search across the country for the next generation of musical talent.

Oh my gosh, you guys, it’s just everything seeing Simon! And it’s not just his work on the show, they let us peek into his real life with Lauren and little Eric, who’s eleven now – so cute! I nearly lost it when they showed Lauren actually changing her last name to Cowell, officially! Like, she legally became Lauren Cowell! It’s just… a total dream come true to see how happy they are. I’m obsessed, seriously!

Simon, who had often said he wasn’t eager to get married, recently proposed to Lauren on Christmas Eve 2021 and now confirms they are planning to tie the knot.

He admitted he’d been avoiding directly confirming anything, saying they’d keep their plans private until they were ready to share. However, he noted that her recent talk about changing her name strongly suggests a marriage is likely coming soon.

‘We have a very, very close bond. I adore her. We are a very happy family, genuinely,’ he gushed.

Simon shared that even though he had to convince Lauren to be in his new show, the process actually made him love her even more.

He told Us Weekly that she was hesitant at first about being filmed, but quickly became comfortable. He added that what viewers see on the show is exactly who she is in person – she’s just as genuine off-camera as she is on.

‘When I was watching the show back, I was absolutely cracking up at some of the scenes.

During a scene about changing her name, Lauren explained she wants to drop her former married name. She was previously married to businessman Andrew Silverman and they share a 20-year-old son named Adam.

‘Look, I am Mrs Cowell,’ she says. ‘I have created a life with Simon, we have a child together, we have a solid relationship.’

She explained the name change was about feeling connected to Simon and Eric. It was about family unity and everyone sharing the same name. Simon had expressed a desire for her to change it, not as a demand, but as a simple statement of identity – a way of solidifying who they all were as a family.

They first crossed paths in Barbados back in 2004, but it wasn’t until 2012 that they began dating. In 2014, they had a son named Eric, and they announced their engagement in 2021.

Though he used to say he wasn’t interested in marriage, the man changed his mind after meeting Lauren. She was completely surprised when he proposed.

Simon met Lauren when she was still married to millionaire property developer Andrew Silverman.

Things really shifted for me and Simon at the end of July 2013. It was then that the news came out about Lauren being pregnant, and suddenly our private life was very public. It completely changed everything, honestly.

In 2015, Simon admitted to Mail on Sunday Event magazine that he wasn’t happy with how things had unfolded, saying he felt ashamed of the situation.

He confessed the pregnancy wasn’t intentional, but he fondly recalled attending the first ultrasound scan with Lauren.

I nicknamed him Tad because he reminded me of a tadpole. Then, suddenly, a strong feeling came over me – I felt incredibly protective of both him and his brother. I realized I really wanted him, something I hadn’t understood before that moment.

Simon had often said he wasn’t interested in getting married, and he was concerned about how it might affect his money if he did.

Simon Cowell, the creator of The X Factor and worth around $600 million, stated in 2008 that he doesn’t believe in marriage, especially not for people in the entertainment industry.

Honestly, people often find that after getting married, their partner quickly takes advantage of them financially, and the relationship doesn’t last. It’s a common pattern that just doesn’t seem to work out.

He has dated several well-known women in the past, including Sinitta, Jackie St. Clair, and Terri Seymour.

There were rumors that he was secretly engaged to model Louise Payne after her separation from her husband, Right Said Fred singer Fred Fairbrass, but he never publicly confirmed them.
