Holly Branson recently paid tribute to her mother, Lady Joan Branson, who passed away last month at the age of 80. The tribute was a heartfelt expression of her grief.
Joan shared a heartfelt message on Instagram about her mother’s death, describing the initial grief and remembering her as a uniquely wonderful and kind person.
Oh my gosh, seeing those pictures Holly posted of her and her mom, Joan, growing up just broke my heart, but also warmed it! It’s so clear how much Joan meant to everyone. Holly said she and her family are feeling all the love being sent their way after such a devastating loss, and honestly, they deserve all the support in the world. It’s just…beautiful and heartbreaking all at once. I’m sending them so much love!
It’s been hard to find the right words, taking me a couple of weeks to write this. How do you possibly describe 44 years of unwavering love?
My mum was just incredible. She had a way of making everyone feel loved and cherished, and she always made us – me, Freddie, Sam, Bellie, Dad, and her grandkids – feel like the most important people in the world. I’m so grateful for the love she gave us and for letting us know how much we meant to her.
We all know our parents won’t live forever, but it’s still shocking when it happens. It’s amazing how time can start to ease the pain, even in just a couple of weeks.

The first wave of sadness has faded, and now I mostly feel grateful for my wonderful mother. She was so loving, kind, and always showed us how much she cared.
Mom, you’re incredibly special – truly one in a million! I’m really trying to follow your example more and more each day. Just the other day, I was shopping with Etta and I let her pick out a little more than I usually would.
Etta noticed I was acting like my mother, Amma, and pointed it out to me. Honestly, that’s exactly what I’m hoping for! I want to embody her qualities every day so I can be the best wife, mother, and eventually, grandmother, possible.
I’m so grateful for all the kind messages, cards, flowers, and hugs I’ve received over the past few weeks.
I didn’t get a chance to respond to every message, but I’ve read them all and I’m incredibly touched. We’re feeling so much love and support from people all over the world.
On Tuesday, Richard gave a heartbreaking update on his grief, following his wife’s passing.
Richard Branson, 75, posted a pair of heartwarming photos with his wife on Instagram, expressing gratitude to his friends, fans, and followers for their support.
In a heartfelt statement, Richard shared that his family now wishes to focus on remembering and celebrating Joan’s life. He also expressed how lucky he felt to have known and been married to his wife of 36 years.

We’re incredibly grateful for all the kind messages about Joan. Our family has been deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support, and it means the world to us during this difficult time.
Our family is now focused on celebrating Joan and remembering the beautiful life she had. I’m incredibly grateful to have known her all those years ago.
It was always such a pleasure being with her, and so many of your kind messages reflected that. Sending lots of love to everyone who has reached out. We’re also thinking of those who have recently lost a loved one, and I’m sure Joan would be too.
His announcement received a lot of positive reactions from friends. Naomi Campbell responded with several dove emojis, while Natalie Pinkham and Lizzie Cundy both praised his photos and message as beautiful and expressed their support.
Just last month, the Daily Mail reported a remarkable coincidence: despite a terrible tragedy, Sir Richard was able to spend his wife’s final hours by her side before her sudden passing.
After an accident during a charity bike ride called the Strive Challenge, he traveled 4,000 miles from India to London to receive medical care.
Sir Richard injured his shoulder while visiting the Taj Mahal, and ended up recovering in a hospital room on the same floor as Lady Branson.
He was grateful to be with her right before she passed away peacefully and quickly. He felt it was destiny that they had shared a joyful lunch, describing them as if they were young lovers reconnecting.
She died peacefully around 24 hours later at the age of 80. The Branson family shared the news of her passing the next day.
The couple share three children, Sam, Holly and Clare Sarah, who sadly died at just four days old.

Sir Richard shared news of her death and some touching photos, explaining how it happened.
In his piece, “Remembering Joan,” he explained that it was a strange coincidence: he’d injured his shoulder in a cycling accident in India, while Joan was recovering from a back injury in an English hospital.
You know, life has a funny way of working out. I unexpectedly ended up with a room right next door to her – just down the hall! It was a total surprise, but a welcome one.
We shared a laugh over how predictably we’d ended up on the same floor – it felt like being giddy teenagers reunited, and it was charming.
We shared a wonderful lunch that day. She seemed cheerful and was clearly regaining her strength. Her smile – that bright, familiar smile I first fell in love with fifty years ago – lit up her face.

It happened so quickly, she was just… gone, peacefully and without any suffering. I was so grateful to be holding her hand right until the end. Knowing we were together in those final moments brings my family and me a lot of peace.
Sir Richard, who is now supporting his adult children, Holly, 44, and Sam, 40, shared: ‘It was an amazing final year for all of us…’
She celebrated her 80th birthday beautifully at Kasbah Tamadot in Morocco, with her dearest friends. Sam marked his 40th with a celebration on Virgin Voyages, and there were so many moments filled with her joy and happiness.
She lived life to the fullest, always prioritizing others and encouraging those around her. We’ll always cherish the joy she radiated, especially during her final months.

In a heartfelt farewell, Sir Richard described his late wife as his ‘shining star.’ He shared that they were heartbroken by her loss, but incredibly thankful for the wonderful life they had together. He especially cherished their children, Sam and Holly, and their adored grandchildren, who, like him, loved her very much – and her treats!
Joan meant everything to me, and our family always revolved around her bright spirit. Though she’s no longer with us in the same way, her influence will continue to guide us, and we will always keep her memory alive in our hearts.
A touching video has surfaced showing Richard Branson and his wife, Joan, getting married on his private island, Necker Island, in 1989. The video shows Branson placing a wedding ring on Lady Branson’s finger.
The couple first encountered each other in 1976 at The Manor, a residential recording studio owned by Virgin Records, and Sir Richard immediately felt a strong connection with her.
