Lauren Graham & Amy Sherman-Palladino Writing Gilmore Girls Book

Lauren Graham and Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creative team behind the popular show Gilmore Girls, are working on a new project that fans are eagerly anticipating. The show has been especially prominent in pop culture recently, marking its 25th anniversary on October 5, 2025. To celebrate, Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, who starred in the original series, came together to present at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards.

Even though Gilmore Girls remains a significant achievement, 2025 hasn’t been as successful for Sherman-Palladino. Her latest show, the ballet series Étoile, was canceled by Prime Video after just one season, despite initial plans for two. Regardless of their current projects, Graham and Sherman-Palladino are always questioned about the possibility of more Gilmore Girls. They finally have an answer, though it might not be what fans hoped for.

Lauren Graham & Amy Sherman-Palladino Are Writing A Gilmore Girls Book Together

Good news for fans of Gilmore Girls! Lauren Graham, the show’s star, and Amy Sherman-Palladino, its creator, are collaborating on a new book with Celadon Books, an imprint of Macmillan Publishers. The book will feature behind-the-scenes stories and insights into their working relationship, and how Gilmore Girls became a cultural hit.

Deb Futter, president and publisher of Celadon Books and Flatiron Books, stated that this book is exactly what fans of Gilmore Girls have been hoping for. She described Lauren and Amy as television icons, and highlighted that the stories within the book are previously untold and will become part of TV history.

Graham and Sherman-Palladino are both very excited to be working together again. Graham shared, “I’m thrilled to team up with Amy to share all our stories from the wonderful years we spent making Gilmore Girls, both times around!”

Amy Sherman-Palladino enthusiastically stated she’d work with Lauren Graham on any project, from a casual lunch to a full-blown book. She jokingly admitted to wanting to be connected to Graham indefinitely, even acknowledging it might not be the most balanced relationship, but that’s simply how she feels.

Given how closely associated Gilmore Girls is with the fall season, it makes sense that Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Graham’s book is scheduled to come out in fall 2027. Sherman-Palladino’s eagerness to work with Graham again has fans speculating about a possible ninth season of Gilmore Girls, but the book demonstrates that a new season isn’t necessary to revisit that world.

Why A Gilmore Girls Book Is Better Than Season 9

Since the release of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life in 2016, fans have been wondering if there will be another series. The show ended with Rory unexpectedly pregnant, and many viewers are hoping for a ninth season to reveal who the father is and give Lorelai and Rory a more satisfying conclusion.

Amy Sherman-Palladino would love to work with Lauren Graham again, and Graham has even floated the idea of another Gilmore Girls Christmas movie. However, making a second sequel is a gamble. If it doesn’t live up to expectations like A Year in the Life did, it could damage the reputation of the entire series and disappoint fans.

A new book by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, the creators of Gilmore Girls, will add even more depth to the beloved town of Stars Hollow. Along with the upcoming documentary Eat Coffee, Drink Fast, which includes interviews with cast members, fans have exciting new ways to celebrate the show and the people who brought it to life.

Alexis Bledel discussed her time on Gilmore Girls in her 2016 memoir, Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls. Kelly Bishop, who played Emily Gilmore, also released a memoir, The Third Gilmore Girl (2024), with an introduction by Amy Sherman-Palladino. Both of these books proved more popular with fans of the show than the Gilmore Girls revival, A Year in the Life.

Even though fans might be hesitant about another Gilmore Girls sequel, most would be thrilled if one were announced. However, the recent release of a new book by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino has lessened the strong desire for a ninth season.
