The stars of Percy Jackson and the Olympians – Dior Goodjohn, Charlie Bushnell, and Daniel Diemer – recently faced a different kind of challenge: artificial intelligence. Before season two premieres, the actors played a game called Debunking AI with ScreenRant, testing their ability to identify false information and showing off their strong teamwork.
In season 2, Goodjohn will play Clarisse, the tough daughter of the god Ares, who is given an important mission. Bushnell is cast as Luke, the son of Hermes, who was exposed as a betrayer at the end of last season—though some might see his motives as justified. And Diemer will play Tyson, a kind and optimistic Cyclops who first appeared in the second Percy Jackson and the Olympians book.
I recently sat down with the stars of Percy Jackson and the Olympians – a really fun group! We chatted with Liam Crowley from ScreenRant, and they were happy to set the record straight on a bunch of things, from what they like to do when they’re not filming, to hints about what’s coming up in season two. Speaking of which, season two is based on The Sea of Monsters book, but don’t expect them to reveal everything. They were careful not to spoil anything for those who haven’t read the books, which I totally respect!
Surprising Non-Facts About The Cast Of Percy Jackson And The Olympians

The AI easily answered basic questions about the story’s characters. However, it struggled with more difficult requests. For example, when asked for a surprising fact about each character, it claimed Diemer enjoyed building miniature models, drawing a connection between the patience needed for this hobby and Tyson’s surprisingly gentle nature, despite his large size.
Diemer surprised everyone by revealing he hadn’t built any models since a school project in sixth grade – a pyramid for a Mesopotamia assignment. He confessed he hadn’t even enjoyed that, explaining with a laugh that he lacks patience and doesn’t trust artificial intelligence.
Bushnell was surprisingly accurate in his claim. AI revealed that he learned all the fight choreography – both with swords and around the campfire – by heart before filming, which showed his character Luke’s intelligence and planning skills. He wasn’t sure what the campfire movements were meant to represent, but he did feel that practicing the sword fights greatly improved his performance.
One of the most surprising fan theories suggested that actress Goodjohn is a competitive fencer, mirroring the strong, fighting spirit of her character. She quickly dismissed this idea, stating, “That’s so wrong! I hadn’t even picked up a weapon until I started working on Percy Jackson, so I know nothing about fencing.” However, she did add, “I would be open to learning, though.”
Which Gods To Expect When You’re Expecting Percy Jackson Season 2

Although AI can’t predict the future, it surprisingly struggled to summarize information it should have already known when asked about season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Here’s what it said when asked about the differences between seasons 1 and 2:
In Season 2, we meet powerful new Gods like Hades and Hecate, along with lesser-known Olympians such as Nemesis. These Gods bring unique abilities, create conflicts, and present difficult choices that challenge the demigods.
Bushnell immediately pointed out that Hades appeared in the first season, making the initial statement incorrect. Both he and Goodjohn also confirmed that neither Nemesis nor Hecate will be featured in season 2. Diemer enthusiastically disagreed, then conceded that season 2 will introduce new gods who bring fresh abilities, challenges, and ethical questions. Athena, Annabeth’s mother, is one confirmed addition, but the three remained secretive about the specific moral dilemmas she will create.
The team also decided that the second season would explore the themes of betrayal, secret prophecies, and difficult moral choices within the world of the Olympian gods in greater detail than the first season, raising the stakes and making alliances less clear. However, they were unsure about the idea of an Olympian god suddenly becoming an enemy, as this could make the characters—and the audience—doubt who is trustworthy.
Goodjohn immediately dismissed the book, saying, “That’s not it.” Diemer disagreed, suggesting it was “more wrong than right.” Luke, however, viewed everything with suspicion, given his distrust of the gods. He conceded, “It’s not completely wrong, especially considering the time of year.”
His fellow actors playfully mocked his intense speech, but he firmly believed he had a good reason for feeling so strongly. He explained, “When I play a character, I truly connect with them – it feels personal.”
Ultimately, AI received a grade of C. While it demonstrated an understanding of basic ideas, it struggled to apply that knowledge to more complex situations. As Goodjohn explained, she gave AI that grade because she’s both a little worried about its potential and a frequent user. She jokingly addressed AI directly, saying, “You get a C. Love you.”
