Netflix Finally Confirms Lupin Season 4 Return Date

English-language TV shows are popular, but recently, shows from other countries have gained a lot of attention. While Squid Game is likely Netflix’s most successful show ever, many other foreign series have also become incredibly popular.

The French mystery thriller series Lupin premiered in 2021, with its first two parts released that same year and Season 3 in 2023. Netflix has announced that Season 4 won’t be available until fall 2026, making it the longest wait between seasons so far.

Filming for Season 4 began in May and is still ongoing. Omar Sy will return as Assane Diop, the beloved gentleman thief known for his incredible disguises.

Sy told Netflix that he considers Lupin to be a truly captivating show. He said he enjoys watching it immensely every time.

The series was co-created by George Kay and François Uzan, inspired by the adventures of Arsène Lupin, the famous gentleman thief. Sy and Louis Leterrier oversee the show. It centers on Assane Diop, a skilled thief whose father immigrated to France from Senegal hoping for a better future for his son.

In the third season of Lupin, Assane successfully steals the Black Pearl, wins over the French public, and even manages to save his mother, while pretending to be dead himself. Despite achieving all of this and seemingly building a better life for him and his son, he ultimately realizes these accomplishments come at a personal cost.

The third season ended with Assane in jail, but since Netflix has renewed the show for a fourth season, he probably won’t be there for long. Details about what Season 4 will be about haven’t been released yet.

Early photos from the filming location, released a few months ago, suggest a large-scale scene. To accommodate the shoot, the Paris Police Prefecture briefly closed some streets to traffic.

Lupin Is One of Netflix’s Biggest Shows

Netflix is well-known for its popular English-language series like Wednesday and Bridgerton, but it also produces many successful international shows. Squid Game became a global hit, and Money Heist was hugely popular as well. Lupin is another one of Netflix’s biggest successes.

Netflix’s list of popular non-English TV shows currently ranks Lupin Season 1 at number five, with an impressive 99.5 million views and a total of 363.3 million hours watched. Season 2 isn’t far behind, landing in ninth place with 68.4 million views and 258.9 million hours viewed.

Critics are loving the mystery thriller series, giving it a 98% approval rating over its first three seasons – and season 3 even earned a perfect 100% score. Viewers have also responded positively, with a 79% rating.

Lupin Season 4 premieres on Netflix in the fall of 2026.
