Jay Penske, who leads Dick Clark Productions, and his team aren’t worried about the recent difficulties surrounding the Golden Globe Awards. They’re moving forward with plans like the “Golden Eve,” a new primetime special that builds on last year’s “Golden Gala.” This event will celebrate the recipients of the Cecil B. DeMille and Carol Burnett awards – Helen Mirren and Sarah Jessica Parker will be honored this year.

“Golden Eve” is being promoted as the last big event of “Golden Week.” According to Penske, “Golden Week” is a major collaboration with CBS designed to turn the Golden Globes into a several-day celebration and a key part of the awards season.

Also new this year is a podcast category, a nod toward the ever-evolving tastes of media consumers.

Marlon Wayans, known from the movie “White Chicks,” and Skye P. Marshall, who recently starred in “Matlock,” announced the nominations on Monday. The main categories were revealed on “CBS Mornings.”

The Golden Globe Awards are back on January 11th at the Beverly Hilton. The show begins at 5 p.m. Pacific Time and you can watch it live on CBS or stream it on Paramount+.

As a real cinema lover, I’ve been digging through some older film titles, and I stumbled across a fascinating list – mostly musicals and comedies, it seems. There’s “One Battle After Another,” a title that immediately sparks my curiosity, followed by “No Other Choice,” which sounds like a classic setup. Then there’s “Marty Supreme” – I wonder if it’s related to the famous “Marty”! I also spotted “Blue Moon,” always a romantic choice for a film title, and something a little quirky with “Bugonia.” Finally, “Nouvelle Vague” – a nod to the French New Wave, perhaps? It’s a lovely little collection, and makes me want to track these all down and give them a watch.

As a film buff, I’m really excited about the upcoming slate of movies! We’ve got everything from the visually stunning “Avatar: Fire and Ash” and the high-octane action of “F1”, to some wild cards like “KPop Demon Hunters” and “Sinners”. Then there are the bigger, established franchises continuing with “Weapons”, the highly anticipated “Wicked: For Good”, and another installment of impossible missions with “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning”. Plus, I’m thrilled to hear they’re making a “Zootopia 2” – the first one was fantastic!

As a huge fan of comedy specials, I’ve been checking out some recent stand-up performances on TV. I’ve really enjoyed Bill Maher’s “Is Anyone Else Seeing This?”, Brett Goldstein’s “The Second Best Night of Your Life”, and Kevin Hart’s “Acting My Age”. I also thought Sarah Silverman’s “PostMortem” was fantastic, and Kumail Nanjiani’s “Night Thoughts” offered some really clever observations. And if you’re in the mood for something a bit darker, Ricky Gervais’ “Mortality” is definitely worth a watch.
