Despite the TV season nearing its end, Ghosts remains popular, and viewers can expect a Christmas episode – albeit a spooky one, as is typical for the residents of Woodstone Mansion. The show’s creators also have reason to celebrate, as Ghosts received four nominations at the 31st Critics Choice Awards, including two that hint at potential romantic storylines.

Ghosts Is Getting Awards Attention
The CBS comedy Ghosts received nominations in nearly every category it was eligible for. Despite strong competition – including another CBS show that changed categories to be considered – Ghosts is a strong contender. Here are the four categories where the show, currently in its fifth of six commissioned seasons, could win a Critics Choice Award:
- Best Comedy Series
- Best Actress in a Comedy Series – Rose McIver
- Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series – Asher Grodman
- Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series – Rebecca Wisocky
It’s a shame Utkarsh Ambudkar didn’t get nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. His character on Ghosts is often the sensible one, playing against the silliness of the ghosts and his co-star, which might hurt his chances at awards. Perhaps the show could give him more opportunities to showcase his comedic talents, like with his running joke about Sonic the Hedgehog?
Okay, I’m not totally upset! I’ve noticed Ghosts getting nominated for Critics Choice Awards since 2022, but this year feels different. It’s the first time they’ve been up for awards in four different categories, and it’s amazing to see Rose McIver and Rebecca Wisocky finally get recognized for their roles as Sam and Hetty! Asher Grodman was nominated last year, which was great, but this feels like Ghosts’ best chance yet to actually win some awards. Fingers crossed!

It’s Time For More Of Hetty And Trevor Together
Whether that will happen remains to be seen, but the nominations for Asher Grodman and Rebecca Wisocky brought to mind something I noticed while rewatching the show before Season 5: Hetty and Trevor are a delightfully quirky couple, and just as entertaining to watch as they are mismatched.
It sounds strange, but the unlikely pairing of a powerful, eccentric robber baroness from the 1800s (who enjoys cocaine and has controversial opinions) and a Wall Street stockbroker who died in 2000 in a rather unusual state (without pants!) and loved the movie The Cutting Edge surprisingly works on screen. As Rebecca Wisocky pointed out, their characters are perfect opposites, and Asher Grodman suggested that his character, Trevor, would find it attractive when the other character, Hetty, did a Philadelphia accent.
I don’t think they need to rush into a romantic relationship again, especially since many of the characters are already in couples. I’d be happy to see them reconnect as strong allies, or even as rivals. The actors clearly enjoy working together and have great chemistry. Plus, they’ve both received award nominations recently, proving their talent – it makes sense to give them more scenes together.
With just three episodes remaining before the new TV season starts in 2026—and two of those being Christmas episodes—it’s looking unlikely my wish will come true this year. However, I won’t have to wait long to see if Ghosts receives any Critics Choice Awards, as the ceremony airs on January 4th at 7 p.m. Eastern on E! and USA.
