Sony has unexpectedly brought its popular baseball game, MLB The Show, to mobile devices! MLB The Show Mobile Baseball is now available for both Android and iOS users, after a test release in the Philippines.

People are excited about this because it’s the first time the MLB The Show franchise has been available on mobile devices since MLB 06: The Show, which was released years ago. Seeing the game on phones and tablets just feels good for longtime fans.

MLB The Show features over 1,000 player cards, 30 MLB stadiums, and full gameplay control

As a huge baseball fan, I’m really excited about this new mobile game! It’s coming from the team at San Diego Studio and published by Sony, and it sounds like they’re going all out. They’re promising a ton of content – over a thousand player cards, and even legends like Ken Griffey Jr., Hank Aaron, and Mickey Mantle will be available to play with! It’s shaping up to be a really immersive experience.

The game will feature complete control over batting, pitching, and fielding, plus incredibly detailed player movements with over 16,000 animations across 30 authentic MLB stadiums. A new Momentum system adds a layer of strategy, influencing in-game decisions like when to advance runners.

The game offers both best-of-three player-versus-player matches and a mode where you can relive famous moments from MLB history. You can also progress by completing daily and limited-time challenges, purchasing the Show Pass, and trading cards with other players in a robust marketplace.

While the announcement is exciting, development of the mobile version started way back in 2022. Clues first appeared in job postings for MLB The Show 22, which indicated Sony was looking to expand into mobile gaming.

So, last year Sony started hinting they were going to get serious about mobile gaming, talking about free-to-play games and even bringing some of our favorite PlayStation games to our phones. Now that MLB The Show is available on mobile, it feels like they’re really heading in the right direction. It’s awesome to see them actually following through!

Currently, the game is only available in the Philippines as part of a limited initial release. A worldwide launch is coming soon! In the meantime, you can download it on the Google Play Store for Android and the App Store for iOS.
