The team of Avengers for the upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, has been revealed, with Sam Wilson taking the lead. After the events of Avengers: Endgame, the Avengers disbanded, and a new team wasn’t officially formed during Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Captain America: Brave New World started the process of rebuilding the team, and Sam Wilson was given the responsibility of finding Earth’s new heroes.
Okay, so Disney finally revealed the new Avengers lineup for Doomsday, and it’s pretty exciting! Captain America is still leading the charge, and he’s got the Falcon – Joaquin Torres, to be specific – as his right-hand man. We’re also getting some godly power with Thor and Loki teaming up, which I’m totally here for. Plus, Ant-Man is back, and Shang-Chi officially made the cut after being awesome in his own movie – so he’s a full-fledged Avenger now! I can’t wait to see this team dynamic.
This Avengers lineup is shaping up to be really interesting, and it could still change. For now, the reveal gives us a chance to explore who’s on the team, how strong they are, and how they compare to past Avengers teams in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Each Avengers Member’s Team History Explained

The six confirmed Avengers team members in Doomsday have varying levels of experience with the team.
Thor is the last remaining original member of the team that first came together in 2012. He’s now on his fifth Avengers team, having been part of the initial lineup, the team in Age of Ultron, the fight against Thanos in Infinity War, and the final battle in Endgame.
After Iron Man, Captain America has been an Avenger for the longest time. The current team leader first joined the Avengers near the end of the battle with Ultron, when Steve Rogers officially recruited Sam. As Falcon, he continued fighting with the team through the beginning of Captain America: Civil War and later teamed up with the Avengers again in Infinity War. Following the events of the Blip, he rejoined them for the final battle in Endgame.
Ant-Man joined the Avengers later than most, becoming an official member only after returning from the Quantum Realm five years after initially disappearing. He played a key role in the team’s time heist. Given his existing relationship with Sam, dating back to the first Ant-Man movie and the incident at the Avengers headquarters, it’s logical that he was brought on board.

Honestly, seeing the Falcon alongside Captain America wasn’t a shock at all. We already knew Torres had been tapped for the Avengers in Brave New World, and he’s consistently been one of Sam Wilson’s closest confidants. It would have felt really strange if Sam didn’t bring his right-hand man along for the ride.
I always felt Shang-Chi joining the Avengers was a natural step, and it totally makes sense when you think about his story. The end of his movie showed him connecting with some of the original Avengers – Wong, Captain Marvel, and Bruce Banner – even though they weren’t on the new team. Seeing him meet those heroes really set the stage, so it wasn’t surprising at all when Sam Wilson asked him to join up. It felt like a really organic progression for his character!
Look, I’ve always loved Loki, but let’s be real – he’s never really been an Avenger. I mean, he kind of kicked things off by bringing them all together in the first place, but that’s about it. Thankfully, Disney+ has given him a chance to really shine with those two seasons of Loki, and it’s been amazing seeing his journey. But even with all that growth, he still feels separate from the main Avengers team in the MCU.
As a huge fan, I always felt Loki was almost part of the main team, especially when he teamed up with Thor, Hulk, and Valkyrie before Infinity War – it was heartbreaking when Thanos killed him. But now? It’s amazing! He’s either officially an Avenger or working closely with them, which is a fantastic development for his character.
How Powerful Doomsday’s Avengers Team Is Compared To The Original Team

As a critic, I couldn’t help but notice this new group has six members – the same number as the original Avengers. It immediately begs the question: how do their powers stack up against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? It’s a comparison audiences will naturally make, and one that definitely has me intrigued.
As a huge Marvel fan, it’s wild to look back at the original Avengers lineup – you had Iron Man with all his tech, Captain America as a super-soldier, Thor as a literal god, the Hulk, and then Black Widow and Hawkeye as these incredible spies. Now, looking at Sam Wilson’s new team? It’s a whole different ballgame! We’ve got two people flying around in high-tech suits, Ant-Man who can change size, two more gods with Thor and Valkyrie, and then Moon Knight bringing serious fighting skills and those ten crazy mystical weapons. It’s a much more diverse power set, that’s for sure!
Even without characters like Hulk or a super-soldier, the team assembled in Doomsday is considerably more powerful. Thor has become much stronger since his first appearance in 2012, and this more powerful version of the god of thunder would greatly enhance the original Avengers team. His presence is a major upgrade for the new team.
Even though Sam Wilson doesn’t have the same super-soldier serum that Steve Rogers did, he’s still incredibly powerful. He has Steve’s vibranium shield and a high-tech suit from Wakanda that can absorb and redirect energy. While he isn’t as physically strong as Steve, Sam compensates with his advanced equipment and skills.
Okay, let me tell you, bringing Loki into the mix completely shakes things up. None of the original Avengers even come close to his level of magical power. Seriously, this version of Loki – the god of stories, as they’re calling him – could easily handle any of the classic Avengers one-on-one. So, having him team up with them in Doomsday doesn’t just add to the story, it actually elevates the whole team’s power level. It’s a smart move that really works.
Shang-Chi is significantly more powerful than Black Widow, and Falcon’s skills also surpass Hawkeye’s. Ant-Man can effectively fill the role of a powerful, large fighter like the Hulk, though he isn’t quite as strong. Plus, his ability to change size and maintain full control gives this new team a distinct advantage.
Is Captain America’s Avengers Team More Powerful Than The MCU’s Other Versions?

The current Avengers team is incredibly strong, but how does it compare to past versions? Teams in movies like Age of Ultron and Civil War had powerful additions like Vision and Scarlet Witch. And while Infinity War and Endgame brought in almost every hero, including Doctor Strange and Captain Marvel, it’s hard to say if that made them the strongest overall.
Considering how many members the Avengers had and the wide range of their abilities in Infinity War and Endgame, it’s clear their team is stronger than Doomsday’s. Even if we only compare the Avengers and Doomsday’s team who consistently fight together in those movies, the Avengers would still likely win.
The Avengers team in Infinity War included Captain America (Steve Rogers), Falcon (Sam Wilson), Black Widow, Vision, Scarlet Witch, War Machine, Black Panther, and Bruce Banner. In Endgame, the core team consisted of Iron Man, Captain America (Steve Rogers), Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, Nebula, Rocket, Captain Marvel, and War Machine.
The team boasts incredibly powerful members like Scarlet Witch and Captain Marvel. While Thor and Loki also contribute, their supporting team is relatively small, which would likely put them at a disadvantage in a battle. However, the team’s overall strength could still grow.
Will There Be More Avengers On Captain America’s Team In Doomsday?

So far, Thor, Loki, Shang-Chi, Ant-Man, and Falcon are the only Avengers confirmed to be on Sam Wilson’s new team. However, Marvel Studios has stated that the full cast for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday hasn’t been announced yet, and characters like Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, Doctor Strange, and Steve Rogers are likely to join the fight.
Several of these characters might eventually become full-fledged Avengers. Captain Marvel is a particularly strong possibility, considering her past with the team and importance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hulk could also rejoin as a member, following his appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. We might even see characters like Wong, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight join the battle.
It’s possible Shuri will officially join this team as well. Although she was previously shown with another group from Wakanda, the current Black Panther could end up fighting for both sides.
It seems unlikely we’ve seen the complete Avengers lineup yet. However, even if this is all of it, the team assembled for Avengers: Doomsday is a powerful and interesting group, bringing together characters with established backgrounds in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the strength needed to face Doctor Doom.
