Spotify Wepa’d: Bad Bunny reclaims title of most-streamed artist globally

The reign of Taylor Swift has officially ended on Spotify: It’s Benito’s casita once again.

As a huge music and movie fan, I always look forward to seeing what streaming services reveal at the end of the year. This Wednesday, they had their ‘Wrapped’ day, basically sharing all the listening stats from pretty much the whole year – January to early December. And the big news? Bad Bunny was officially their most-streamed artist globally! It’s awesome to see who really dominated the charts.

The artist behind the hit song “Baile Inolvidable” has reached number one on Spotify’s year-end list for the fourth time. This year, 2025, they accumulated a total of 19.8 billion streams and are also set to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show.

Bad Bunny’s 2025 album, “Debí Tirar Más Fotos,” was a huge success, earning the title of top album worldwide. The album’s lead single also ranked as one of the most-streamed songs of the year. His 2022 album, “Un Verano Sin Ti,” continued to perform well, landing at number 10 on the global album chart this year, and was the most-streamed album in 2023.

The nominations for the 68th Grammy Awards were announced Friday, and several well-known Latinx artists—like Bad Bunny, Karol G, The Marías, and Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso—received nods in various categories.

Bad Bunny was Spotify’s most-streamed global artist for three years in a row – 2020, 2021, and 2022. In 2023, Taylor Swift took the top spot, pushing Bad Bunny to second place. This year, 2024, he came in third, with Swift remaining number one and The Weeknd in second.

Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Drake, and Billie Eilish rounded out the top five global artists of 2025. Fuerza Regida, a música mexicana group from San Bernardino, reached number 10 on the global list, marking their first time in the top ten.

In the U.S., listening habits showed a bit of a different pattern. While Bad Bunny was the fifth most-streamed artist overall, Taylor Swift topped the charts, followed by Drake, Morgan Wallen, and Kendrick Lamar.

The Puerto Rican musician will perform at the Super Bowl next year in Santa Clara. It’s the biggest musical performance of the event, known as Super Bowl LXI.

The most popular song in the U.S. right now is “Luther” by Kendrick Lamar and SZA. Other top songs include “Die With a Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, “Ordinary” by Alex Warren, “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish, and another track by Lamar, “TV Off.”

The Marías’ 2024 track “No One Noticed” ranked No. 10 in the most-streamed songs list in the U.S.

Morgan Wallen’s new album, “I’m the Problem,” reached number one on the U.S. albums chart. His 2023 album, “One Thing at a Time,” is currently at number nine. SZA’s “SOS Deluxe: Lana” came in second, followed by “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” at third, “KPOP Demon Hunters” at fourth, and Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX” at fifth. Taylor Swift’s “The Life of a Showgirl” landed at number eight.
