Dave Coulier, best known as the funny Uncle Joey from “Full House,” is facing another cancer diagnosis, just months after successfully completing treatment for lymphoma.
The popular actor, age 66, shared on Tuesday that doctors diagnosed him with tongue cancer in October. He discussed this new health update while appearing on NBC’s “Today,” where he previously announced his diagnosis of Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma last year.
I had a PET scan as part of a regular check-up, and it showed something unusual,” the comedian explained to Craig Melvin on “Today.” “It turned out I have a type of cancer called P16 squamous carcinoma at the base of my tongue.”
Doctors said that the two cancers are “totally unrelated,” he added.

Candace Cameron Bure is thrilled to hear that her ‘Full House’ co-star, Dave Coulier, has overcome non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She calls it ‘amazing’ news.
In an interview with “Today,” Dave Coulier shared that his cancer may have started with an HPV virus he had up to 30 years ago. Doctors believe the virus became active and developed into a type of cancer called carcinoma. The American Cancer Society explains that P16 is a marker indicating an HPV infection. According to the Mayo Clinic, squamous cell carcinoma is a cancer that begins in skin cells, and HPV infection is a known risk factor.
So, I was reading an interview with Dave Coulier, and he was talking about a health scare he went through. Apparently, doctors first found a lump at the base of his tongue and did a biopsy – he said it was really painful, but thankfully it didn’t show cancer at first. But then, a few months later in October, they noticed it had grown and was acting up, so they had to do another biopsy, taking a bigger piece of his tongue this time. Unfortunately, that sample did come back positive for cancer. It’s scary stuff, but good on him for sharing his story.
During Tuesday’s show, Dave Coulier shared that he’s receiving 35 radiation treatments for tongue cancer and hopes to finish by the end of the year, on December 31st.

Comedian and actor Dave Coulier, best known for his role on ‘Full House,’ is recovering after completing six rounds of chemotherapy for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He’s jokingly mentioned experiencing some hair loss as a result of the treatment.
Dr. Coulier offered reassurance, stating that the outlook for P16-positive squamous carcinoma is very positive, with a cure rate exceeding 90%.
After a battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma last year, Dave Coulier has been candid about his health journey, discussing his treatment and how the cancer weakened his immune system. He’s also expressed gratitude for the support he received from his “Full House” co-stars. Doctors confirmed he was cancer-free in late March.
John Stamos, known for his role on “Full House,” showed support for his friend Dave Coulier after Coulier shared news about his health, enthusiastically calling him “my man!” on Instagram.
I was really struck by Alan Coulier’s honesty on “Today” this morning. He talked about how his first cancer diagnosis actually led him to create AwearMarket, this online store focused on healthier, non-toxic products. He realized, after dealing with a weakened immune system, that so many everyday things – from soaps to clothes – are actually full of harmful chemicals. It’s a really interesting story about turning a personal health scare into something positive for others.
He explained that he used to rely on products full of harmful ingredients, which inspired him to create Awear and offer healthier alternatives.
