Zachery Ty Bryan, known for his role on Home Improvement, was arrested in Oregon over the weekend following a dispute with his fiancée. Authorities say she attempted to hit him with a car while their three children were inside.
According to Lane County Sheriff’s Office records obtained by Daily Mail, Bryan, 44, and his fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, 32, were arrested in Fall Creek on Saturday after a troubling incident.
According to police, the couple from Eugene, Oregon, were driving with their three young children when something happened. A family member later came to care for the children.
Police reported that Bryan, known for his role as Brad Taylor on the ABC sitcom that aired from 1991 to 1999, had gotten out of his truck and began walking along a road.
According to police, Cartwright then tried to hit Bryan with the truck, causing it to crash into a ditch with the children still inside.
The Daily Mail has contacted Bryan’s production company and the Lane County Sheriff’s Office for more information about this story. They haven’t been able to reach Johnson, who is still being held in custody.

Daily Mail reviewed jail records showing Bryan was arrested on Saturday and held without bail. He was expected to remain in custody until Wednesday.
Police reported that Bryan managed to avoid injury by moving out of the way, even though both he and his fiancé were under the influence. Thankfully, no one in the truck was hurt.
Eyewitnesses to the incident were also interviewed at the scene, according to authorities.
Police arrested both Bryan and Cartwright. They said Bryan, the actor from Home Improvement, had broken a court order that required him to stay away from his fiancée.
Following further investigation, police arrested Cartwright and charged them with attempted assault, reckless endangerment (three counts), and driving under the influence.
Bryan was taken into custody after violating the terms of his probation, which stemmed from a previous fourth-degree assault charge. The children affected by the case are now staying with a relative.
On Monday, Melissa Cartwright appeared in court and entered a not-guilty plea to charges of driving under the influence, endangering others twice, and reckless driving three times, according to court documents obtained by People magazine.
When Cartwright was arrested, records indicated she was charged with several offenses. These included a DUI, three counts of putting others in danger through reckless driving, and one count of reckless driving – all considered misdemeanors. She also faced a single felony charge for attempted assault.
Earlier this month, Bryan explained his recent arrest related to domestic violence by saying it was challenging to adjust from being a child star to having the responsibilities of an adult.
From my perspective, navigating childhood fame can leave lasting impacts, and I’ve seen firsthand how those early experiences can unfortunately surface as challenges much later in life. Bryan’s story is a perfect example – even decades after being a child actor, he’s still dealing with the emotional and legal consequences of that early exposure.

Bryan recently talked to TMZ after his ex-girlfriend successfully obtained a five-year restraining order against him due to a previous legal issue.
According to court documents obtained by the media, Bryan allegedly became physically violent with his ex-girlfriend on July 3rd.
According to legal documents reported by the outlet, Bryan punched his ex-girlfriend after she playfully touched his nipple.
The woman testified in court that the actor threatened her during their three-month relationship, reportedly saying, “Shut up or I’ll shut you up.” Despite this, no criminal charges have been filed against him.
Bryan shared with TMZ that becoming famous at such a young age – when he was just nine – created pressures he wasn’t ready for. However, he emphasized that this doesn’t excuse the decisions he’s made as an adult.
After his recent arrest, Bryan announced he’s focusing on personal growth to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Bryan stated he understands that domestic violence is never okay. He expressed deep regret for his past mistakes, explaining they were caused by his immaturity and unusual upbringing.
Bryan shared that he’s dealt with the long-term consequences of becoming famous young, battling addiction, and making mistakes. These issues have caused pain to those he loves and have resulted in several legal problems, such as driving under the influence and previous incidents of domestic disturbance.

Bryan stated that the recent events, including the restraining order and the serious claims made, have been a difficult and sobering experience for him.
The actor from ‘Guardians of Justice (Will Save You!)’ said he was particularly upset by how his legal troubles have caused people to question his parenting.
Bryan admitted that being called a ‘bad dad’ really hurt, explaining that his children mean everything to him and he feels he hasn’t always lived up to their expectations.
Bryan, known for his role as Clay in the 2006 film The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, is seeking help through therapy, including programs for drug rehabilitation and managing anger.
Bryan was previously arrested in connection with domestic violence two times.
In October 2020, Bryan was arrested in Eugene, Oregon, following an incident with his partner. He later pleaded guilty to menacing and simple assault.

Bryan was arrested in Horry County, South Carolina, in January for allegedly assaulting a woman. The case is still under investigation.
Bryan starred alongside Tim Allen, Patricia Richardson, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and Taran Noah Smith in 203 episodes of the show Home Improvement.
Allen told The Hollywood Reporter in 2022 that he was confused by Bryan’s behavior. He described Bryan as a good person who had become more complicated as he matured.
Sometimes, all you can do is give someone space to deal with things their own way. He changed into someone I didn’t recognize, responding to issues that were beyond my influence or control.
