Prime Video is now streaming one of Steven Spielberg’s most famous science fiction movies. This highly praised film is officially available on the platform after a successful run in theaters and remains a fan favorite.

Ready Player One begins streaming on Prime Video in December

On December 30, 2025, you’ll be able to watch ‘Ready Player One’ on Prime Video. Along with this film, other titles like ‘Blade,’ ‘A Cinderella Story,’ and the 2013 version of ‘The Great Gatsby’ will also become available to stream on the same day.

Ready Player One, directed by Steven Spielberg, is based on Ernest Cline’s 2011 novel and was released in the U.S. on March 29, 2018. The movie stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, and Mark Rylance. It’s set in a troubled future, 2045, and follows Wade Watts, a teenage orphan, who joins a dangerous virtual competition within the OASIS, hoping to find a secret prize – an Easter egg.

Produced by Warner Bros., Village Roadshow, and Amblin Entertainment, the movie cost between $155 and $175 million to make. It was a major success, earning over $583 million around the world. The film also received award nominations for its visual effects from the Academy Awards, BAFTAs, and Critics’ Choice Awards, and it won Best Science Fiction Film at the Saturn Awards.

As a total movie buff, I was thrilled to see Prime Video’s December lineup dropped on November 23rd! It looks like they’re ending the year strong with some great titles. I’m especially excited for Ready Player One hitting the service on December 30th – it’s a must-rewatch! Plus, they’re releasing Fallout Season 2 on December 17th, and A Minecraft Movie on December 22nd, so December is shaping up to be a fantastic month for streaming.

On December 30th, Prime Video will add a variety of movies, including classics like Blade (1998) and Blade II, family favorites like Free Willy, and adventure films such as In the Heart of the Sea and Wrath of the Titans. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and Ready Player One are also among the new titles becoming available.
