Scarlett Johansson reveals her VERY awkward first date behavior with husband Colin Jost

Scarlett Johansson recently shared that because she hadn’t dated much before, she acted a bit strangely when she first started dating her husband, Colin Jost.

The couple got married in 2020, but Colin Jost, 43, thought he didn’t stand a chance with her at first. She had acted strangely on their first date.

During a Monday appearance on Jenna and Friends, 41-year-old Johansson shared the story of her first date with Jost, revealing she’d never actually been formally asked out before he did.

The comedian first had dinner with Johansson, and then they continued the date by getting drinks with a group of friends.

But dating newbie Johansson instead decided to call it an early night. 

‘My first date with Colin, honestly, nobody ever really asked me out really before,’ Johansson recalled. 

Johansson explained that she always preferred being in committed, one-on-one relationships and never experienced the typical casual dating approach, like someone simply asking her out to dinner. She wasn’t sure why – perhaps it was because she’d been working since a young age.

She told me he’d finally asked her out, and they’d had a really nice date at an Italian restaurant in the East Village.

Jost then asked Johansson if she’d like to join him to hang out with his friends later that night.

But instead, she decided to return home.

We were having dinner around eight, and then out of nowhere, he said he was meeting friends for a drink and wanted me to come along. Honestly, I’d barely ever been on dates before, so I totally panicked! I just felt like I needed to get home right away, and I ended up leaving immediately.

I rushed home to replace my babysitter around 9:36, and she seemed really surprised to see me. I tried to explain I’d been on a date, but I was just completely flustered and couldn’t really get my words out.

She explained that he later told her, “I really thought that was the end. You were behaving so strangely.” She admitted she had panicked and didn’t know why.

Luckily, the couple quickly got over their initial awkwardness on their first date and got married in 2020.

The Emmy-nominated actor first started dating Scarlett Johansson in May 2017, after she appeared on his show for the fifth time.

The couple got engaged two years later and wed sometime in October 2020 at their New York home. 

They welcomed son Cosmo the following year. 

Scarlett Johansson was married to Romain Dauriac from 2014 until their divorce in 2017. They have a daughter, Rose, who is 11 years old.

The Saturday Night Live personality dated actress Rashida Jones from 2013 until 2016.

The actress recently shared news about Colin Jost’s future on Saturday Night Live, following the departure of four cast members before season 51 begins.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Johansson shared that her husband is returning to work.
