Disabled Example fan forced to defend herself as musician mistakenly tells her to ‘get up and dance’ during gig

As a lifestyle advocate, I was really disheartened to hear about a recent incident at the O2 Arena. A fan who is both pregnant and has a disability was unfortunately told by the artist Example to ‘get up and dance.’ It’s a reminder that we all need to be more mindful and considerate of everyone’s individual circumstances, and she understandably had to explain her situation. It’s crucial that performers and venues create inclusive environments where everyone feels comfortable and respected.

A pregnant woman, 27 weeks along, recounted an uncomfortable experience where musician Elliot John Gleave, age 43, publicly called her out for being seated.

Example was opening for JLS and was performing his song “Changed The Way You Kiss Me” when he noticed a woman in the audience and became distracted.

When Example noticed she wasn’t responding to his encouragement, he asked what she was doing and then insultingly told her she looked foolish.

The pregnant woman, seven months along, explained she had to raise her cane so the person could see it.

Kxrstyxx shared a TikTok saying she never expected to be publicly addressed by Example, especially because she’s 27 weeks pregnant and lives with a disability.

Fans wrote: ‘I was FUMING about this! He was so rude and wouldn’t let it go.’

Oh my gosh, I was absolutely devastated when I heard him say, during the concert, something like ‘even this pregnant woman is standing!’ I just found out he basically made her get up, and it’s awful! Seriously, putting that pressure on someone is so wrong, I can’t believe he did that. It completely ruined the moment for me, knowing that happened.

‘He was like this in Cardiff, he was fuming at everyone sitting down.’

The fan said she had a much better experience meeting JLS.

She shared with The Sun that the members of JLS were very kind to her and complimented her brightly colored walking aid.

Daily Mail has contacted Example’s representative for comment.

The popular boy band from the 2000s, featuring members Oritsé Williams, JB Gill, Aston, and Marvin Humes, broke up 12 years ago so each member could pursue their own individual careers.

The popular group is back together and will be performing a few concerts throughout the UK this November.

Aston Merrygold has temporarily stopped performing his signature backflips due to an injury that now requires him to use crutches.

The 37-year-old singer shared news of his injury on TikTok with his wife, Sarah-Louise, 36, as part of a playful video where she pretended to warn people to be kind to him.

Aston explained, approaching the camera, that he’d injured himself and needs surgery. He showed off the crutches he’s been given to help him get around.

He displayed the large cast on his leg, which he’s wearing after injuring himself in a fall during rehearsals, as reported by Chronicle Live.

The band started their tour again in Glasgow at the Hydro Arena. Although his team suggested postponing the show, the lead singer told fans he wouldn’t disappoint them and the concert went ahead as planned.

Aston complimented his bandmates for adapting the show to work around his injury, explaining they’d made significant adjustments.
