First look at Sarah Michelle Gellar in “unhinged” and “very surprising” horror sequel

Okay, so I’m super hyped because they just dropped some new pics from Ready or Not 2: Here I Come! And get this – Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy!) is in it, and apparently she’s going a little crazy in the best way. It’s a sequel to Ready or Not from 2019, and thankfully the same directors, Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, are back at the helm. It looks like they’re really leaning into the horror this time around!

I’m so hyped to see Samara Weaving back as Grace! The new movie starts right after that insane wedding night from the first one – things definitely didn’t go as planned, to say the least.

Kathryn Newton, Elijah Wood, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, Olivia Cheng, and horror icon David Cronenberg join Jenna Ortega, Finn Wolfhard, and Naomi Watts in the cast.

We’ve gotten our first glimpse of the movie’s cast, including Sarah Michelle Gellar in a black suit.

In one of the photos, Gellar and the rest of the actors are gathered around, watching Weaving and Newton, who are tied up in chairs.

One photo depicts Gellar next to Cronenberg, who is in a hospital bed with medical equipment around him.

The directors, Gillett and Bettinelli-Olpin, expressed their enthusiasm for the new cast, saying they were incredibly impressed with each actor’s unique contribution. They believe the cast delivers a perfect blend of scares, humor, and strangeness.

The directors said it was surprisingly emotional revisiting the film with Hugo Weaving playing Grace.

They explained that the first film had a profound impact on them. Seeing Samara reprise the role, and wear the iconic dress again, was a particularly moving experience.

Weaver admitted to feeling a little nervous at first, worried she might forget her lines. But as soon as she put the dress on again, she became really energized and excited.

Honestly, stepping back into that character just brought everything rushing back – all the memories and feelings. The costume fitting was surprisingly emotional, actually. It’s cool to revisit the role, but the absolute best part was getting to work with that same amazing crew again. It felt like no time had passed.

I’m so hyped for the sequel! Hugo Weaving described it as totally wild and crazy – he said fans are going to absolutely love it, and honestly, that’s enough to get me even more excited!

She said the writers managed a clever twist – it felt both inevitable and unexpected.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is scheduled to be released on 10 April 2026.
