Jon Bon Jovi sought guidance on how to be a grandfather after his son, Jake, and daughter-in-law, Millie Bobby Brown, adopted a baby girl. Jake is 23 and Millie is 21.
Millie, who married Jake last year, surprised her followers with an announcement on August 21st: she had adopted a child.
Jon recently became a grandfather again! His son, Jesse, and Jesse’s wife, Jesse Light, welcomed a baby girl named Blair Lucy Bongiovi earlier this month. This is Jon’s second grandchild.
Can you believe it? Mick Jagger, the Mick Jagger, was on a CBeebies podcast! A podcast about parenting! I nearly fell off my chair. He was actually asking for advice, like one of us! And he talked about being a grandpa – seriously, a grandpa! It’s just…amazing. He’s a legend, and he’s being real about family stuff. I’m obsessed!
As a lifestyle expert, I often get asked about family dynamics, and recently, I had a really interesting question from Jon Bon Jovi! He’d just become a grandparent and was wondering about that tricky balance – when is it okay to offer parenting advice to your own child, and when should you just let them figure things out on their own? It’s a question so many of us grandparents grapple with – wanting to help, but also respecting their journey as new parents.
Philippa said, ‘Only offer advice if someone asks for it, and otherwise, stay out of it. I’m not sure what ‘butt out’ really means, but I think it’s just a way of saying to keep quiet. Basically, you should stay quiet unless someone needs your opinion.’

Later Jon went on to reveal the best advice he has got on becoming a grandparent.
The most helpful thing I’ve learned is knowing when to hold back on offering parenting advice. You quickly realize that every parent figures things out in their own way, and there’s no instruction book when you’re left alone with a new baby for the first time, especially on that first night with the grandparents gone.
I definitely learned that through experience. Every generation finds its own way to parent, and we all need to support each other through it. I’m really excited to see my children become parents and to welcome our grandchildren into the family.
Jon recently shared that he still thinks of his four children as babies, but he’s excited about having a special Christmas with them.
In an interview with The Mirror, he shared his joy about becoming a grandfather, calling it a wonderful new phase in his life.
It’s still a bit strange adjusting to my kids being adults. I often think of them as toddlers, and then suddenly they’re grown with families of their own – it’s a complete shift in perspective.
Jesse, 30, married TV producer Jesse, 31, in Las Vegas in May 2024 after a two year engagement.

Millie suggested they were expecting a baby on July 20th by posting a photo on Instagram of Jake pushing a stroller.
They announced the adoption of their baby girl in August with a social media post saying, ‘We’re thrilled to welcome our sweet baby girl this summer!’
I’m absolutely thrilled to share that Millie and Jake are expecting! They’ve asked for privacy as they begin this incredible new journey into parenthood, and it’s so touching to see how much they value that. It’s official – their family is growing, and I couldn’t be happier for them! Sending all my love to the soon-to-be family of three.
I was so thrilled when they got married in May 2024! They’ve always talked about building a big family, and they’ve openly considered both having kids and adoption, which is wonderful to hear.
Earlier this year the actress said she wanted to be a mother.
During an interview on the Smartless podcast with Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett, the actress shared that she’s excited about becoming a mother, even though she knows she’s still young.
She shared that her mother had her first child at 21, and her father was 19 at the time. She added that wanting children had been a long-held desire, even before she met Jake.
Ever since I was little, I’ve dreamed of being a mother, hoping to be just like my own mom. My grandmother also played a very important role in my life.
Millie explained that Jake understands how much starting a family means to her. While she’s dedicated to building her career as both an actor and a producer, she also feels it’s very important for her to have children.
‘It’s a huge thing. Jake was like, we cannot do that until we get married. So that was his thing.’
Millie then added: ‘And my thing was, I really want a family. I really want a big family.
Both my partner and I come from families with four children, so we’re open to having a larger family in the future. Personally, I don’t see a big difference between having a biological child and adopting – both are wonderful ways to become a parent.
She explained that her and Jake strive to create a welcoming and loving home where everyone feels comfortable. They believe in an open-door policy and want anyone to feel at ease when they visit.
