Sam Thompson confirmed he’s now officially dating Talitha Balinska, and seemed to make a pointed remark about his previous relationship with Zara McDermott.
Okay, so you guys, it’s HAPPENED! Miles Nazaire finally made Lily Cornish his girlfriend! I’ve been following their every move for months, and he just revealed how he asked her to be official. Seriously, I’m losing it! He finally put a label on it after dating for a few months, and I’m so happy for them! I need all the details, obviously, but just knowing they’re officially together is amazing!
Sam’s friend and former co-star on Made In Chelsea, Reza Amiri-Garroussi, introduced the couple. They initially met in 2023 when Talitha appeared in a photoshoot for Dinelli, a sunglasses brand co-owned by Sam and Reza.
Sam was dating Zara, 28, but recently reconnected with Talitha after she unexpectedly appeared as a guest at his concert at the O2 Arena. According to a source at the Daily Mail, they quickly became a couple.
On their latest podcast, Staying Relevant, the TV star told his friend Pete Wicks that he’s in a relationship and no longer available.
He announced with excitement, ‘I have a girlfriend!’ Pete jokingly responded, ‘Looks like he’s fallen under the spell of love again.’
When asked about proposing to Talitha, Sam said it was very casual. He described the moment as actually quite uneventful, but explained that was exactly the atmosphere he was hoping for.
Okay, so I had a really nice dinner, and I just took a leap of faith and told this person how I feel! I actually said I’d love to be their boyfriend, which felt amazing in the moment. Honestly though, now I’m suddenly way more nervous – it’s a funny feeling, admitting what you want and then waiting for a response!
He told her he really liked her and felt comfortable being himself around her. He explained that at 33, he wouldn’t have spent this much time with someone if he didn’t see a future with her, and then he asked her to be his girlfriend. She said yes, and he was thrilled.
Pete immediately congratulated his friend, reminding him how much progress he’d made since last Christmas, when Sam and Zara had broken up after five years together.
He expressed his pride and joy, noting that things had come full circle for the year. Sam happily exclaimed, “Christmas is back on!”
Showing just how quickly their relationship is growing, Sam shared that Talitha has already bonded with his family. He plans to take her skiing with his sister Louise Thompson and her fiancé Ryan Libbey after the New Year.
In October, Louise, the star of Made In Chelsea, seemed to approve of her brother Sam’s new girlfriend, Talitha. She posted a photo of the four of them – Talitha, Sam, herself, and her four-year-old son Leo – enjoying roasting marshmallows together.
When Pete asked Sam if he and Talitha were planning to announce their relationship on Instagram, Sam subtly criticized his ex-girlfriend by saying he didn’t see the point of doing so.
Pete just wanted to double-check that there wouldn’t be a Christmas photo of the cats, Talitha, and you all dressed in pajamas inside Santa’s grotto.
Throughout their relationship, Sam and Zara often posted photos together on Instagram. One Christmas, they famously wore matching pajamas and posed for a picture with their cats, Albus and Cedric, in front of their Christmas tree.
You know, Pete and I were chatting, and he seemed worried I’d repeat a past mistake with Talitha. I quickly reassured him that wasn’t the plan at all! I’ve been there, done that, and this time I’m deliberately aiming for a completely different approach. I’m really focused on doing things the opposite way around this time – it’s a conscious choice.
Zara is now dating Louis Tomlinson of the band One Direction. He recently shared in a podcast that he’s deeply in love with her.
People first saw them together in March, and they’ve since been photographed sharing intimate kisses. Zara has been traveling with the singer, offering her support as he pursues his music career.
Sam has been trying to act like he’s okay with Zara dating Louis, and even jokingly played One Direction’s ‘Steal My Girl’ during a recent concert.
Sam had previously confessed he was worried about asking Talitha to be his girlfriend, fearing he would become overwhelmed if he did.
Following their dating confirmation on a podcast in October, Pete jokingly asked his partner about their relationship’s future, specifically how and when he would ask her to be his official girlfriend, even referencing the reality show Love Island as a possible approach.
Sam was hesitant and said, ‘No, we haven’t discussed that at all. The good thing is, there’s no pressure, and no rush. My biggest worry is that if she finds out about this, I could lose my job next week.’
Commenting on Sam and Zara’s breakup, Pete joked, ‘I can’t handle another split right now, especially not this year. Can’t we wait until next year? So, what’s the latest on that?’
Sam explained that they were moving at a comfortable pace, but he was hesitant about defining the relationship. He hadn’t asked anyone to be his girlfriend in a long time, and it made him a little nervous.
He explained that things were going really well and they weren’t in a rush, just enjoying getting to know each other.
To be honest, I’d be really nervous and wouldn’t even know where to start if I tried to ask someone on a date. It’s been a long time since I’ve even considered it.
Oh my gosh, Talitha comes from such a fascinating background! Just like Sam, her family is seriously impressive. Her dad, Kaz Balinski, is a Polish aristocrat – can you believe it?! – and he’s made a fortune in the oil industry. And her mom, Vanessa Balinska, is amazing too! It’s just… a really glamorous family, honestly. I’ve been researching everything about them, and it’s incredible!
Kaz was married to TV chef Lorraine Pascale before they divorced in 2000. More recently, in 2023, he married model Sophie Anderton, who is known for being on reality shows like Love Island, I’m A Celebrity, and Celebrity Big Brother.
Oh my gosh, Talitha is one of four siblings, and get this – her sister Ella actually starred in the Charlie’s Angels reboot with Kristen Stewart back in 2019! I knew Ella was amazing, and now I’m obsessed with the whole family!
