Irish influencer Niamh Cullen shared the sad news of her husband Jamie Gill’s passing at the age of 33, just over a year after they celebrated their first wedding anniversary.
The 33-year-old shared heartbreaking news on Instagram Saturday, posting a heartfelt message about the situation.
Something terrible has happened—my worst fear came true. My wonderful husband is gone. He was my everything, and I felt so incredibly lucky to have been loved by him. I will always love you, Jamie, not just today, but forever.
She continued: ‘This video for me shows our unconditional love, fun and laughter. I’m broken.’
Gill passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and with the dedicated care of the staff at St. Francis Hospice in Raheny.
It’s just heartbreaking. His family said it best – things will never be the same without him. He was such a loving husband, a son they clearly adored, and a brother who brought so much joy. It’s a loss that’s truly changed their lives forever, and I feel their pain deeply.

He is remembered by his son, Cullen, and his parents, Barbara and Hugh. He also leaves behind his brothers, his in-laws Geraldine and James, brother-in-law Jack, sisters-in-law Grace, godson Hughy, goddaughter Emily, and niece Sadie, as well as Moya and Roderick, who were Jamie’s godparents.
Funeral arrangements state that Jamie will repose at his parents’ home this Sunday from 4pm to 7pm.
The deceased will be moved to St. Vincent De Paul Church on Griffith Avenue on Tuesday morning for a Funeral Mass at 11:30am. Burial will follow at Balgriffin Cemetery.
The family has requested donations to St. Francis Hospice, Raheny in lieu of flowers .
Only a few weeks before he passed away, Cullen wrote a touching post celebrating his first wedding anniversary. He revealed that Jamie had unexpectedly fallen ill and was facing a difficult fight against cancer.
She shared a wedding photo and wrote that last weekend marked their first anniversary. She added that they had no idea what an incredible journey lay ahead of them when they got married.
She remembered that three days into their wedding celebrations, Jamie suddenly became very sick. Their short honeymoon in Rome ended up being a ten-day hospital stay. After they got back home, Jamie had tests and discussed what to do next with doctors.
Just two weeks before Christmas, Jamie had a major operation and doctors found a cancerous tumor. It was a devastating moment for our family, but we pulled together. Jamie went through ten rounds of chemotherapy with incredible courage.

Cullen said they faced some challenges, but nothing could have predicted the frightening event that happened after the tenth round.
She wrote that he was taken to the hospital by ambulance and quickly developed pneumonia, which then became sepsis, only hours after receiving chemotherapy. She described the situation as frightening and very serious.
Soon after, he was hospitalized once more, this time with excruciating pain. We then received the heartbreaking news that the cancer had come back.
She admitted she felt devastated, still shaken by what had happened, but remained hopeful. ‘My husband is strong,’ she said, ‘and we’re not going to surrender.’

The influencer shared in her post how deeply affected she was by watching her husband fight cancer early in their marriage.
It’s hard to put into words how strong Jamie has been throughout everything,” she shared. “He constantly surprises me with his positive attitude and resilience, even when things are really tough.
Watching someone you love go through a difficult time is incredibly painful, especially when you feel like there’s nothing you can do to help. I constantly feel guilty, wishing I could take their pain away or switch places with them, but I know that’s impossible.
She shared that her husband is her inspiration and hero, and she cherishes being his wife. Despite recent challenges, she remains hopeful and prays for brighter days, believing he deserves all good things. She expressed gratitude for his support and patience, acknowledging that this has been a very difficult period for them as newlyweds, but they are determined to persevere.
They first connected in 2017 at Bingo Loco, a bingo hall in their town. After dating for a few years, they decided to move in together in 2021, and Gill proposed a year later.
She told VIP Magazine in August 2025 that life has been full, though they’ve been dealing with some personal challenges at home, which she’ll share when she’s ready. Right now, she explained, it’s a private matter. Her husband is currently facing health issues, and they are focusing on getting through each day. She’s balancing keeping busy with being there for her husband, Jamie.
