Zootopia 2 epically tops box office including massive nine-figure total for one of biggest worldwide debuts in history

Zootopia 2 had a fantastic opening, earning an impressive $38.5 million on Black Friday alone. This contributed to a very successful first few days in cinemas.

Disney’s new animated movie was the number one film at the box office this weekend, earning $156 million in North America.

The new animated film featuring a cheerful rabbit and a clever fox had a fantastic international debut, earning a record-breaking $556 million worldwide.

As a huge fan, I was blown away by the opening weekend numbers! It landed as the fourth-biggest global debut ever, right after massive hits like Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. That’s incredible company to be keeping!

Disney star Ariana Grande recently joined the cast of the movie musical Wicked, alongside Cynthia Erivo, to play one of the Witches of Oz in the highly anticipated sequel.

Zootopia 2’s opening weekend also broke records with its smashing debut in China.

Zootopia’s huge success was largely thanks to its incredible performance in China, where it had the biggest opening weekend ever for an animated film, earning $272 million.

Zootopia 2 also nabbed the second biggest launch in movie history.

These animated animals achieved success just behind Disney and Marvel’s blockbuster film, Avengers: Endgame, which earned over $300 million in China when it was released in 2019.

The Saturday following Black Friday saw incredible results for Zootopia 2, marking the largest single-day opening for a Hollywood movie in over two years, with a remarkable $104 million in ticket sales.

This movie is a follow-up to the animated film that came out in March 2016. It’s a comedy featuring a pair of police partners.

In that year, Zootopia received both the Academy Award (Oscar) and the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature.

The new movie brings back Judy Hopps, a cheerful rabbit brought to life by Ginnifer Goodwin, and Nick Wilde, a clever fox voiced by Jason Bateman.

The first movie introduces Judy Hopps, a rabbit who makes history as the first of her kind to join the police department in the bustling city of Zootopia.

She partners with a clever red fox to crack a puzzling case, despite him complicating her work as a law enforcer.

In the follow-up story, the detective duo investigates a complicated case centered around a strange reptile that causes chaos throughout the animal city of Zootopia.

The sequel to Zootopia will challenge Judy and Nick’s teamwork as they investigate a new mystery while working undercover in unfamiliar areas of the city.

Jared Bush and Byron Howard directed the animated film, which boasts a star-studded voice cast featuring Shakira, Ke Huy Quan, Macaulay Culkin, Quinta Brunson, Fortune Feimster, Patrick Warburton, and many more.
