Guy Pearce receives backlash over shock political posts – as he makes a huge call about his social media presence

Actor Guy Pearce has left social media after facing criticism from fans for sharing posts expressing support for Palestine.

The actor, 58, acknowledged that some of his social media posts included incorrect details regarding Israel and the current conflict with Palestine.

Pearce told Jewish News that he realized he had shared some inaccurate information about Palestine, including articles and statements containing falsehoods, and that this happened unintentionally.

I understand that sharing incorrect information can be upsetting and create confusion, and I sincerely apologize for any harm caused. I will make every effort to double-check facts before sharing anything online in the future.

Pearce shared several posts that sparked controversy, including claims falsely blaming Israel for the 9/11 attacks. He also shared content featuring far-right figure Nick Fuentes and made unsubstantiated accusations linking Israel to a supposed assassination attempt on Charlie Kirk.

Pearce allegedly made statements claiming the three largest pornography companies are owned by Jewish individuals.

Following a strong negative reaction to his recent posts, Pearce removed the content from his X account and announced he would be stepping away from social media for a while.

He stated that he had apologized earlier this week for posting inaccurate and misleading information on social media.

I sincerely meant my apology, but I understand that words aren’t enough. To avoid causing further harm or confusion, I’m going to take a break from social media for now.

He was also called out for some controversial posts he made earlier in November.

Pearce expressed strong disgust towards Israelis in a recently deleted social media post, stating he’s never felt such negative feelings towards any group of people before.

I see daily how little value they place on Palestinian lives, and it’s deeply upsetting. Each act of cruelty like this feels like a step backward for all of us.

This is not the first time Pearce has raised eyebrows over his political views. 

At the AACTA Awards in February, actor Pearce appeared alone after publicly confirming his breakup with Carice van Houten, his partner of many years.

This news follows Guy’s recent first-ever Oscar nomination, which came shortly after it was confirmed he and Carice van Houten had separated.

The Game of Thrones actress announced on Instagram that she and her partner had actually split up years ago.

The English-born actor stars alongside Adrien Brody in the post-World War II drama.

It tells the story of an architect (Brody) escaping post-war Europe to rebuild his life in America.

Pearce portrays Harrison Lee Van Buren, a wealthy and made-up character who recognizes the architect’s potential and funds his career, ultimately leading to unfortunate consequences.
