Did Stranger Things Season 5 Poster Give Away A Big Spoiler? Noah Schnapp Just Called It ‘Intentional’

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for the first four episodes of Stranger Things Season 5. If you haven’t watched them yet, you’ll need a Netflix subscription to catch up before reading!

The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is coming to Netflix in 2025, promising a last showdown with the creatures from the Upside Down. The first part of the season recently arrived, over three years after the cliffhanger ending of Season 4, and revealed a major connection between Will Byers and the villain Vecna – a mystery that began when Will was taken in Season 1. Actor Noah Schnapp has talked about this surprising plot twist and a hint about it that was included on the Season 5 poster.

At the end of the first part of Stranger Things’ fifth season, our heroes face a major crisis. Vecna emerges, taunting Will and then sending Demogorgons to attack him and his friends. Surprisingly, Will discovers hidden powers and uses them to defeat the monsters in a way that’s reminiscent of Vecna’s own attacks, ultimately saving the group. Considering the final season’s poster, some fans are wondering if Will’s positioning hints at what’s to come. Noah Schnapp recently shared some thoughts with Glamour.

We always aim to capture the feeling of the current season and show where each character is at that point in the story. You can definitely see his strength reflected in this, and while we avoided showing any actual blood, we pushed as close to that line as possible. Everything we do is carefully considered and purposeful.

The new poster doesn’t explicitly state that Will has powers like Eleven – such as nosebleeds when using them – but the way the characters are arranged hints at something significant. If you need a reminder, take another look at the poster.

Though Millie Bobby Brown is prominently featured on the poster, second only to Vecna in size, Noah Schnapp’s character appears right above her, a little smaller but crucially positioned higher than everyone else, almost alongside the monster.

The actor noticed a newfound determination in Will’s gaze, something that wasn’t present in earlier seasons. Interestingly, while all the other characters are positioned at an angle, Will and Eleven are the only ones looking directly forward.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t pay much attention to small details in the promotional images before the season started—I even avoided watching the trailer because it hinted at something big happening with Will. But now it looks like there were definitely clues hidden there for us to find.

Noah Schnapp has delivered a great performance as Will Byers, and I’m looking forward to seeing what he does in the fifth season, especially as his character explores powers similar to Eleven’s. The final episodes will arrive on Netflix in two parts: the first three episodes on Christmas Day, and the series finale on December 31st.
