Wayne Carey’s ex Catie O’Neill announces engagement to mystery man and flaunts diamond ring – two years after splitting with AFL legend

Catie O’Neill, who previously dated AFL star Wayne Carey, is engaged to be married, two years after their relationship ended.

On Sunday, the 30-year-old entrepreneur posted a video online showing her kissing her future husband and displaying her new engagement ring.

Okay, so she finally posted something! Just a video, but with the caption ‘yes’ and a DIAMOND RING emoji! I’m losing it! Everyone’s going crazy trying to figure out who the lucky guy is, but she’s playing it totally cool and not saying anything about him. It’s killing me! I need to know who she’s with!

Catie’s celebrity friends quickly took to the comments section with their well wishes.

‘The best ever!!!!! Love you legends,’ gushed Neighbours star Bonnie Anderson.

‘Congratulations,’ added influencer Emma Spiliopoulous. 

In August 2023, it was reported that Wayne and Catie had parted ways. 

The couple started publicly dating in March, following rumors of a relationship that began in January.

The pair reportedly met at a local tavern where Carey was hosting an event on January 25.

The event was a chance for fans to meet the famous football player, who talked about his life and experiences.

Attendees said the newly minted couple looked ‘happy and smitten’ at the event.

Catie co-founded and directs two skincare brands, My Glow 2 and Huxden, with Olivia Burrows.

She’s built a strong presence on social media, with over 115,700 followers on TikTok and 10,400 on Instagram.

The sporting legend has had several love interests in the past. 

He was first married to Sally McMahon. They met at a party in Wagga Wagga when he was 20 and she was 17, and later married in 2001.

But the couple’s relationship soon hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. 

Only a year after getting married, the captain of the North Melbourne football team had an affair with the wife of a former teammate, Kelli Stevens.

To make matters worse, Stevens was by Carey’s side as a groomsman at his wedding.

Carey and Sally repaired their relationship and had a daughter, Ella, who is now 17. However, they separated just months after Ella was born in 2006.

Following their split, Carey began a relationship with model Kate Neilson.

They were engaged for a short time in 2009, but split up soon after when rumors surfaced about Carey having an affair.

Oh man, I was so excited when he started dating Stephanie Edwards back in 2011! I really thought she was ‘the one.’ Then, four years later, they announced they were getting engaged – I nearly lost it! Sadly, it just didn’t last. They confirmed they’d split in 2016, and honestly, it broke my heart. It seemed like another one that just didn’t work out for him.

The pair share a daughter named Charlotte together, who they welcomed in 2014.

As a bit of a lifestyle observer, I noticed a connection between Carey and the lovely Jessica Paulke back in January 2018. They were seen looking quite cozy together at the Australian Open, sparking some buzz at the time!

Oh my gosh, it was the BEST year! Paulke found out she was pregnant, and then, in February 2019, little Carter Michael Carey arrived! I was absolutely over the moon – it felt like everyone was celebrating with them, and honestly, me too!
