I just finished watching this gritty thriller, and it really grabbed me. It centers around the suspicious death of a Detroit foster mom, played brilliantly by Fionnula Flanagan. Her four adopted sons – a musician named Jack (Garrett Hedlund), a former Marine called Angel (Tyrese Gibson), a fiery hockey player Bobby (Mark Wahlberg), and a more settled family man, Jeremiah (André Benjamin) – all believe her death wasn’t a random act of violence. They take matters into their own hands, hunting down a local crime boss, Victor Sweet (Chiwetel Ejiofor), all while trying to stay one step ahead of the police. It’s a tense, compelling story about family and seeking justice.

Critics & Audiences Couldn’t Agree on ‘Four Brothers’

Even with a strong cast and director John Singleton at the helm, the movie Four Brothers received very mixed reactions when it came out, especially from critics. It currently has a 53% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with many praising the natural chemistry between the lead actors, but also criticizing its excessive violence and the way it seemed to celebrate taking the law into one’s own hands.

Viewers have very different opinions on Four Brothers. Many enjoy its mix of serious crime drama and fast-paced action, giving it an 80% score on the Popcornmeter. One Rotten Tomatoes user said the film successfully combines tension and excitement, largely due to its well-known actors. Others call it a “must-see” with great acting and action, or simply an “amazing” movie with a strong story and cast.

I’m really enjoying Mark Wahlberg’s recent run in action movies! I just finished watching Play Dirty, directed by Shane Black, and it was fantastic. It’s based on those classic Parker novels by Donald E. Westlake (writing as Richard Stark), and Wahlberg is perfect as the professional thief. Apparently, a lot of other people thought so too, because it’s become a huge hit for Amazon MGM Studios – over 57 million views worldwide on Prime Video! And if that wasn’t enough, he’s back with Michelle Monaghan in The Family Plan 2, which is already all over Apple TV and doing really well. He’s definitely on a roll!
