While Stranger Things boasts a famous cast including Millie Bobby Brown and Winona Ryder, the show also features some less recognizable actors. Now that the sci-fi series is beginning its final season, creators The Duffer Brothers have shared that one particular casting choice was made for personal reasons.
The popular show returned to Netflix earlier this week with the first part of its final season. The new episodes center around the characters’ fight to protect their town, Hawkins, from the evil Vecna.
The show gained a well-known actress, Linda Hamilton, playing Dr. Kay. A new character, Miss Harris, played by Hope Hynes Love, was also introduced, and the show’s creators have shared that they have a personal connection to the actor.

Hope Hynes Love, who plays Miss Harris, was our high school drama teacher,” Ross Duffer shared on Instagram. “My brother, Matt, and I both struggled in high school, but Hope recognized potential in us that we didn’t see in ourselves.
She really believed in us and gave us the courage to get through those tough four years, and even to move to Los Angeles and pursue our goals. A big thank you to all the teachers who are changing lives! And let’s make sure schools continue to support art programs. ✌️

One commenter raved about the post, saying it was beautiful and that they thought their high school theatre teacher would be perfect for it. Another simply wrote, “Oh my gosh, I love this!” and added that the person featured is clearly very proud.
The final season of the show began streaming on Wednesday, November 26th, with the first four episodes available immediately. The remaining three episodes will be released on Christmas Day, and the series will conclude with the finale, ‘The Rightside Up,’ on December 31st.
When it first came out, Digital Spy gave the first four episodes a four-star review, saying the show has grown up along with its actors. They noted that season five delves into more serious and complex stories, which affects everything about the show.
Season five is packed with thrilling action and an energetic soundtrack. It’s consistently exciting and features incredibly strong performances, making it a remarkably tense experience.
All five seasons of Stranger Things are available to watch on Netflix. Plus, a new play, Stranger Things: The First Shadow, is currently showing at the Phoenix Theatre in London, with tickets available now and performances scheduled until September 7, 2025.
