Even though Thanksgiving has passed, some people, including Jeremy Renner, might still be enjoying the holiday spirit this weekend. Renner seems to be embracing the festive season and also hinted at plans for the days following Thanksgiving. He did this by referencing a memorable scene from a Marvel movie, playfully connecting it to what he has planned.
Like many families, mine really enjoys eating leftover Thanksgiving food all weekend. Actor Jeremy Renner recently shared a post on Instagram about his holiday plans, though he didn’t share many details. He hinted at what he’d be up to and suggested his followers might want to prepare for some good food – leftovers, perhaps!
Is there anything better than a home-cooked meal shared with loved ones? How about getting to do it all over again tomorrow with the same people and your favorite film? What’s on the agenda for movie night today?
Honestly, the thought of leftovers and a movie sounds perfect right now. But what really made me smile was seeing Jeremy Renner playfully reference one of the MCU’s all-time greatest food moments! The actor, who we all know as Hawkeye, shared a screenshot of a Marvel Instagram story – you can check it out below – and it’s a fun little nod that any Marvel fan will appreciate.

Dedicated Marvel fans immediately knew what scene Jeremy Renner was referencing in his post: the famous shawarma scene from the 2012 movie The Avengers. This scene plays after the credits roll and shows Earth’s heroes quietly enjoying a meal together after their battle to save New York from Loki and his army. It’s honestly the perfect scene to capture the spirit of Thanksgiving.

Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, and other Avengers cast members often joked around about Chris Hemsworth casually holding Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, on set during filming.
It’s been 13 years since the first Avengers movie came out, and some fun stories about how it was made have come to light. One interesting detail involves Chris Evans, who plays Captain America. If you remember the shawarma scene, his character, Steve Rogers, is shown sitting with his face partially hidden and doesn’t actually eat anything. That’s because the scene was filmed near the end of production, and Evans had already started growing a beard for his next role in the movie Snowpiercer. I still find that little detail funny, and it’s great that the scene has become so memorable!
I’m starting to wonder if there will be time for a shawarma scene in the new Avengers: Doomsday movie. Details about the plot are being kept secret, and the actors aren’t revealing much. Jeremy Renner has been evasive about his involvement, and playfully dismissed the idea when Brie Larson asked him about it.

Okay, movie fans, if you’re looking for a way to spend those post-Thanksgiving days, Disney+ is a solid option. I was checking it out, and you can get a plan with ads for as little as $11.99 a month. If you prefer a completely ad-free experience, it’ll run you $18.99 monthly. And here’s a tip: if you’re planning to watch a lot, you can actually save some money by pre-paying for a year – it comes out to about $189.99, which is a 16% discount. Perfect for a Marvel marathon, if you ask me!
It’s unclear if Jeremy Renner will be reprising his role as Clint Barton anytime soon, but it’s nice to imagine him relaxing this weekend, maybe enjoying some leftovers. I hope he has a good meal and finds something fun to watch. If you’re also in the mood for a cozy night in, you can stream ‘The Avengers’ and other Marvel movies on Disney+.
