Ed Sheeran insists he had ‘four-hour’ talk with Taylor Swift after Travis Kelce engagement… amid ‘fallout’ rumors

Ed Sheeran said he and Taylor Swift had a four-hour conversation after he found out about her engagement to Travis Kelce through social media.

The two singers have been close friends for eleven years, and Taylor Swift, 35, has even playfully called Ed Sheeran, 34, her ‘second brother.’

This August, when she shared the news of her engagement on Instagram, Ed Sheeran – who doesn’t own a cellphone – learned about it just like everyone else.

Reports surfaced that their relationship became tense after Taylor Swift released her album, The Life of a Showgirl, in September – very close to the release date of his new album, Play.

However, Sheeran claims he saw Swift a week after she reportedly accepted Kelce’s proposal, and they spent several hours talking and reconnecting.

Honestly, I get why people are curious, but I really don’t care what anyone thinks about who I’m with! In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, he made it so clear – he’s completely confident and unbothered by any judgment. It’s amazing to see him so happy and secure, and honestly, it just makes me love him even more!

The singer, Azizam, explained that they’ve been incredibly close friends for a long time. They don’t always see each other, but whenever they do, it feels like no time has passed at all.

Sheeran explained, “I consider Taylor a friend, and I do see her. In fact, I saw her about a week after all of that happened. I did the interview, and then I had a chance to talk to her in person.” Sheeran is originally from Halifax.

He mentioned that while staying connected through social media and cellphones is easy, it can sometimes make real, personal connections with people more difficult.

He leads a life largely disconnected from technology, which has led to experiences that feel more meaningful. For example, when he recently met up with Taylor, they spent four hours just talking about life, a genuine connection he really valued.

Ed Sheeran recently revealed details about his relationship with Taylor Swift, following reports from the Daily Mail last month that things had been difficult between them. These difficulties reportedly arose after Swift released her new album shortly before Sheeran’s own album came out.

Even though Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift are close friends, she didn’t tell him when her album, The Life Of A Showgirl, was coming out. The album quickly became a chart-topper after its release.

In May, the popular British singer announced his eighth studio album, titled ‘Play,’ would be released on September 12th.

In August, just weeks after Sheeran’s announcement, Taylor Swift revealed she would be releasing a new collection of her own on October 3rd.

According to someone familiar with the music industry, Ed Sheeran puts a lot of thought into how he releases his albums. He gave fans four months’ notice about his new album, but Taylor Swift then announced hers would come out just two weeks later.

His team rushed to gain attention while hers was still high, and he was quite upset and frustrated by it.

‘It is not the first time that Taylor has done something like this. She’s got form.’

Ed Sheeran’s album started at number one when it was released, but Taylor Swift’s new album quickly took over, pushing Sheeran’s out of the top ten.

Taylor Swift faced criticism last year for releasing different versions of her album specifically in the UK right around the time Charli XCX released her album, “Brat.” Some people accused Swift of intentionally trying to prevent Charli XCX’s album from performing well on the charts.

Taylor Swift’s album kept Charli D’Amelio from reaching number one, allowing Swift to stay at the top of the charts with ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.

Taylor Swift responded to strong competition from Billie Eilish’s new album, Hit Me Hard And Soft, which was challenging Swift’s position at the top of the US charts. When Eilish seemed likely to take the number one spot, Swift released several new versions of her album – including digital downloads and a CD edition – to maintain her lead.

Each album version included a unique, previously unreleased song, motivating dedicated fans to purchase all the different versions and maintain Taylor Swift’s chart success.

Ed Sheeran has talked before about strategically planning when to release his albums. He explained in 2017 that many of his biggest competitors – artists like Beyoncé, The Weeknd, and Bruno Mars – all released albums the previous year, which made him nervous.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m hearing from my sources that Taylor Swift’s new music likely won’t drop until later this year, and honestly, that makes perfect sense. The holiday season, especially around Christmas, is always a huge time for music sales – people are gifting and treating themselves, so it’s a really smart move for her to time the release then.

I’ve always loved seeing strong friendships blossom in the music industry, and Taylor and Ed’s is one of my favorites! They first connected over a song they did together, ‘Everything Has Changed,’ way back in 2012, and it was so sweet to see Ed then open for Taylor on tour. It’s clear they have a genuine connection that’s lasted over a decade!

The pair eventually settled in Nashville, where they became very close friends. Sheeran explained they spent almost every day together for around six months.

According to a source, they last saw each other at Selena Gomez’s wedding in California on September 27th. They both spoke at the wedding, but didn’t talk about when their new albums would come out.

Taylor Swift recently shared that she didn’t personally tell her close British friend about her engagement to Travis Kelce. Instead, Ed Sheeran learned the news through Instagram.

She confessed she hadn’t called Ed to share the good news before announcing it to her 282 million Instagram followers.

She shared that this person is one of her favorites in the world, and when she heard the news, she realized they’d forgotten to contact Ed.

Ed Sheeran’s representatives were contacted for comment.
