Sadie Sink finally responds to MCU rumours about her mysterious Spider-Man role

Sadie Sink, known for her role in Stranger Things, has spoken about the speculation surrounding her potential part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and possibly future Marvel projects.

So, I was checking out some set photos from the new Spider-Man movie – the fourth one with Tom Holland – and I spotted this actress filming. They’re trying to keep her character a secret, so she was totally bundled up in a huge puffer jacket! It’s fun trying to guess who she might be, though.

Tom can acknowledge his fans because everyone recognizes him, but when people see me, I feel awkward and out of place, like a penguin,” she explained to Entertainment Weekly.

Sink observed that maintaining secrecy is far more crucial within the Marvel Cinematic Universe than it was on the Netflix series that brought her fame, and she anticipates this will continue for the foreseeable future.

Okay, so there’s not a ton of official news yet, but everyone’s buzzing that she’s going to play Jean Grey, also known as Phoenix! She’s a massive deal in the Marvel universe. It’s a bit weird since she’s an X-Men character and doesn’t really have anything to do with Spider-Man, though it’s funny to think the X-Mansion and Spider-Man’s neighborhood are actually pretty close together in the comics. Plus, if you read the Ultimate comics, Spider-Man actually dated Kitty Pryde, so there is a connection, however small!

She explained that the rumors started circulating before she was even officially involved with the project. She said discussions with Marvel happened while she was still filming the fifth season of Stranger Things, and she was surprised to hear people talking about it. “I was like, ‘Wait, what’s going on?’”

Many believe Sadie Sink is set to play Jean Grey because she and the character both have red hair, but Sink herself says that similarity isn’t a definite indicator.

She admitted many people don’t realize hair color changes, but she’s aware of the various theories and isn’t focusing on them much these days.

She said people would need to wait and find out what happens, but she’s hopeful everything will be resolved soon.

There’s also speculation that she might portray Firestar, another red-haired character connected to Spider-Man, or Felicia Hardy, better known as Black Cat, a significant character and love interest in Spider-Man’s world.

Spider-Man 4 is scheduled to come out on July 31, 2026. New episodes of Stranger Things season 5 will be available on Christmas Day in the US and on Boxing Day in the UK.

The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! You can find Ariana & Witches at newsstands and online for only £8.99.
