Todd Howard recently let fans know that Elder Scrolls 6 is still some time away, but also suggested it might be released unexpectedly, like Oblivion Remastered. While the game isn’t coming out soon, a recent image has some fans hopeful that the first trailer could be revealed this year. The post itself is short on details, featuring only an image, but Elder Scrolls fans are eager to read into any possible clues.

The image, labeled with the words “regal.inspiring.thickness,” shows a cliffside with figures that appear to be skeletal warriors carved into the rock. In the distance, there’s desert sand and Joshua trees. While it doesn’t immediately look like an Elder Scrolls game to me, many others seem to think it is. The most popular comment on the teaser, posted by Keighley, simply says “ELDER SCROLLS 6. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LET IT BE. ELDER SCROLLS 6.” This shows a lot of fans are hoping the teaser hints at Bethesda revealing something about the next installment in the series.

The image feels like something from a fantasy role-playing game, but the desert landscape doesn’t immediately suggest the world of Tamriel. However, Tamriel does have some sandy areas, and the setting for the next Elder Scrolls game is just a rumor at this point, so it’s definitely possible. One person online even pointed out details in the image that might connect it to the Elder Scrolls series.

I’m really hoping we’ll finally see a trailer for Elder Scrolls 6 at The Game Awards this year. However, the recent teaser is so unclear that it could be for almost any game. Many people actually believe it might be a preview for a new God of War game. Some others speculate it could be related to Diablo 4 or something else entirely within the Diablo series.

I’m so hyped for The Game Awards on December 11th! We might get a couple more hints before then, but honestly, I don’t expect we’ll really know what to expect until the show actually starts streaming.
