They’d arrived to such fanfare.
When Jamie Vardy joined his new Italian team, Cremonese, in September, fans were overjoyed! He and his wife, Rebekah, were swarmed by excited supporters as they arrived at Milan’s Linate airport.
I’m hearing that just weeks after moving to Italy for a new beginning, Jamie and Rebekah Vardy’s villa near Lake Garda was burglarized, casting a shadow over their fresh start.
The crime is especially devastating for the couple because both of them were equally overjoyed at the airport.
According to a source familiar with the situation, Jamie and Rebekah Vardy were hoping for a fresh start and a more peaceful life abroad. This desire came after the stressful and highly publicized “Wagatha Christie” legal battle, which left Rebekah feeling hurt by the judge’s ruling that she pay £1.4 million towards Coleen Rooney’s legal costs.
‘They knew the drama had to end, they wanted it to,’ says that source. ‘Italy was a new start.’
I was so thrilled when I heard the Vardys decided to really live in Italy, not just have Jamie pop over for work! They weren’t going to let his year-long contract with the Serie A team be a long-distance thing; they truly decided to move the whole family and start a completely new chapter over there. It showed such commitment, and I admired them for it!
Only six weeks ago, Jamie and his family moved to a beautiful villa in Salo, Italy, with a view of Lake Garda and the Alps. This move allows Jamie to be closer to Cremona, the town where he performs and which is renowned for its violin making.

People quickly started calling him “Stradi-Vardy,” a playful combination of his name and the famous violin-making city of Cremona, and the local reception was incredibly warm.
Their dream of living in Italy turned into a nightmare this week when burglars broke into their home and stole around £80,000 worth of possessions. The break-in happened while Jamie was playing a soccer game against Roma, and the thieves entered through an unlocked window.
Thieves stole jewelry, money, and valuable items, including a Patek Philippe watch.
Rebekah wasn’t home during the incident, but a babysitter was present. Investigators believe the burglars were likely watching the Vardys’ house to see when it was empty. Fortunately, reports from locals indicate that none of the couple’s five children were inside at the time.
According to police, the babysitter was inside the house by herself, unaware of what was going on while the children weren’t present.
‘It’s a very large property so she was in another wing when it happened.’
A police insider confirms the woman is not a suspect.
According to police, the burglary was quick and clearly well-planned. The robbers seemed to know exactly what they were after, likely because a famous footballer had recently moved to the quiet town of Salo.

A local restaurant owner shared with the Daily Mail how surprised he was by the burglary. He said it’s usually a very safe and peaceful town where break-ins are rare, and suggested the thief likely followed the homeowner, knowing the house would be empty.
Locals also believe the lavishness of the villa led to it attracting the burglars’ attention.
Friends say Rebekah was watching Jamie play at the time. I’m told she is ‘sickened’ and ‘in shock’.
A friend shared that she’s been deeply impacted by this. She and Jamie had been hoping for a quieter life in Italy.
They really wanted to avoid conflict and drama, as they’d experienced enough of it and simply wanted to move forward with their lives.
They’d always dreamed of this life, and decided to bring the kids along – all except their eldest, who was already away at university – for an unforgettable experience.
No one expected this to happen here. You have to think they’re now regretting not choosing Saudi Arabia or America, the places they originally wanted to visit.
Rebekah is determined to continue attending her husband’s football games, no matter what. She makes a point of being at every match, and even a break-in won’t keep her away.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Typical Jamie Vardy, honestly. Apparently, insiders are saying he and Rebekah are going to use all this drama – all of it – in their new documentary next year. Like, they’re going to turn their heartache into content! It’s just…so Vardy, you know? They’re really going to ‘make good’ on it, as one source put it. I’m already counting down the days to see it, it’s going to be INSANE!
The three-part show will follow the couple and their children on their adventure to Italy.
Even this is threatened to be outshone by Rebekah’s nemesis Coleen Rooney, however.
The Rooneys have their own Disney+ show which is expected to air next year, too.
The conflict between the two families started in 2019 when Coleen publicly accused Rebekah of sharing private information with a tabloid newspaper. This led to a legal case brought by Rebekah against Coleen, which culminated in a highly publicized and ultimately unsuccessful court battle in 2022.
The situation was financially difficult for the Vardys, and they nearly had to sell their £9.7 million villa in Quinta do Lago, Portugal, in June.
According to a source, the show will follow their move to Italy, documenting both the challenges and rewards of starting a new life there.
This new drama adds some excitement to their situation. Although they’ve been through a really difficult and stressful time, in a strange way, it also presents an opportunity.
The show is likely to attract a large audience, particularly when Wayne and Coleen Rooney launch theirs, creating a competition for viewers. Everyone will be closely watching the ratings. Ultimately, this incident won’t negatively impact the Vardys.
Despite everything, there’s evidence that the Vardys really did attempt to build a different life in Italy, and Rebekah especially desired a more peaceful existence.
The staged paparazzi photos, lavish parties, and photoshoots are a thing of the past. People in Italy report that the Vardys are rarely spotted out in public.
It doesn’t seem Rebekah has been traveling to glamorous destinations like Dubai or Thailand lately. She also doesn’t have a publicist at the moment and isn’t posting on Instagram as frequently as before.
When they eat out, they usually choose affordable restaurants, which is different from the more upscale dining Rebekah was used to in Britain.
According to one resident of Cremona, Jamie Vardy has been very hard to spot since arriving. While people were excited to meet him after his initial press appearance earlier this summer, it seems he’s become quite reclusive and rarely seen in public.
He’s quite reserved and doesn’t socialize much with teammates after practice. He also generally keeps to himself and prefers a private lifestyle, so he isn’t often seen out and about in town.
Jamie and his family, including Rebekah’s son Taylor (15) and their three children, Sofia (11), Finley (8), and Olivia (6), are known to visit La Sosta, an affordable restaurant, quite often, according to a waitress there.
Jamie’s been spotted at the Sax Club, a basic, unpretentious pub that offers classic British fare like pizza, burgers, and fries, along with a good selection of beer.
No one in Salo seems to have seen him. A local restaurant owner states he’s never encountered Jamie or his family, saying, ‘I’m open daily and know a lot of people. I’ve lived and worked here for decades and haven’t seen him or anyone from his family, nor has anyone told me they have.’
‘I don’t think he comes here at all. He probably hangs out more in Cremona, where he plays.’
Jamie, a former England striker, joined Cremonese in August with a contract said to be worth £860,000 a year. This is significantly less than the money he earned at Leicester City, where he won the Premier League in 2016 – about ten times less, in fact.
Before officially signing with his new team, there was talk he might finish his career playing in the Middle East. However, his wife, Rebekah, strongly preferred that he join David Beckham’s Inter Miami in the US – a move those close to Beckham claim was never a realistic possibility.
Some people claim she would have been pleased if Jamie had joined Wrexham, the famous Championship club, because she was hoping to become friends with Blake Lively, whose husband Ryan Reynolds co-owns the team.
Rumors also circulated about Jamie potentially joining Birmingham City, a club partially owned by Tom Brady, the famous American football player.
After the Italy deal went through, I heard Rebekah was really excited for a bit of a fresh start and a different rhythm to her life. She seemed ready for a change of pace, honestly.
A friend of Rebekah’s says she was really looking forward to moving to Italy. She imagined it would be peaceful and relaxing, a welcome change from the attention she’d been getting. She especially liked the idea of escaping the world of famous footballers’ wives and celebrities.
I just can’t believe it! She always talked about how perfect life would be on Lake Garda, a total dream come true. But this break-in… it’s completely ruined everything. It’s not the paradise she imagined at all now, it’s just… awful. It’s the opposite of everything she hoped for.
As viewers of their reality show will, one imagines, soon find out.
