It’s instantly gripping, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

The show’s central idea revolves around Sam leveraging his business negotiation expertise to reason with and make deals with hijackers, always aiming to protect others. He applies his skills to identify vulnerabilities and connect with them, even though this situation is far from his usual work. Hijack is Diverting From Its Premise

The show Hijack has taken a new direction. Instead of a traditional hijacking, the plot now revolves around a bomb planted on a train. Sam, the main character, will fully lean into his role as a hero, using his calm demeanor to help others survive a dangerous situation with as little harm as possible. Idris Elba expressed interest in returning to the role only if the story moved beyond repeat hijacking scenarios, so think of this season as a new evolution of Hijack.

Jim Field, one of the show’s creators, mentioned to TV Insider that exploring how the main character responds to new challenges would be a compelling direction, even though the show’s title suggests a certain focus. The core of the show – Sam interacting with villains amidst chaotic situations – is what made the first season so captivating. After negotiations, the British government agrees to free Edgar and John in exchange for the safe return of the plane and its passengers. However, Edgar had a hidden motive: he deliberately orchestrated the hijacking to drive down the airline’s stock price, hoping to profit from the drop.

A woman named Amanda Taunton, a former Navy aviation expert, has seized control of a plane. She’s diverting it towards central London, and authorities have been ordered to shoot it down to prevent a crash and protect people on the ground. Sam discovers Amanda is acting because her daughter is in danger and she’s afraid of what will happen if they land. He promises her she won’t be arrested if she cooperates with those on the ground, but time is running out – the plane is almost out of fuel.

Thanks to air traffic controller Alice and Sam’s skillful negotiation, Amanda is directed to a safe landing spot. Though there’s a moment of panic, she manages to land the plane without incident. However, the danger isn’t over for Sam, who finds himself alone on the plane with one remaining hijacker intent on killing him. Fortunately, police quickly boarded the aircraft, and Sam’s quick actions helped them capture the hijacker before he could cause further harm. Now, with the series set to return, viewers can expect it to continue its streak as a truly excellent show.
