The first four episodes of the final season of Stranger Things have just been released, and the fourth episode, “Chapter Four: Sorcerer,” is already breaking records. It currently has the highest user rating on IMDb for the entire series, with over 20,000 votes in just two days. Because the episodes were released during a holiday, viewership is expected to increase, but it’s unclear if the episode’s rating will continue to climb.
According to IMDb, this batch of four episodes is currently ranked as follows:
- “Chapter Four: Sorcerer”
- “Chapter Three: The Turnbow Trap”
- “Chapter Two: The Vanishing of Holly Wheeler”
- “Chapter One: The Crawl”
The all-time top five episodes break down as follows:
- Season 5 – “Chapter Four: Sorcerer”
- Season 4 – “Chapter Seven: The Massacre at Hawkins Lab”
- Season 4 – “Chapter Four: Dear Billy”
- Season 1 – “Chapter Eight: The Upside Down”
- Season 2 – “Chapter Nine: The Gate”
It’s notable that only one episode from Season 3 ranks among the top 10, with “Chapter Eight: The Battle of Starcourt” landing at number 7. As many fans might expect, the lowest-rated episode is from Season 2: “Chapter Seven: The Lost Sister.” This episode sees Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown, leave Hawkins and connect with other teenagers who share her telekinetic abilities and have similar backgrounds as research subjects.
Because Stranger Things fans are so passionate, the storyline in Season 2 took a hit when Eleven left Hawkins, leading to a strong negative reaction – 15.5% of viewers gave that episode a rating of just 1 out of 10. Some fans even wondered if the episode wasn’t really about moving the main story forward, but instead was created to introduce new characters who could star in their own separate shows.
What Else Can Fans Expect From the Future of ‘Stranger Things’?

Netflix
The final three episodes of Stranger Things season will be available on Christmas, December 25th, with the very last episode premiering on Netflix December 31st. While this marks the end of the main story, the world of Stranger Things isn’t over just yet.
The world of Stranger Things continues to grow! Beyond the original show, it’s been adapted into comic books and a live stage play. Fans can also look forward to an animated series, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, planned for release in 2026, which will fill the gap between seasons two and three. And just recently, the show’s creators, the Duffer brothers, announced that a new live-action spin-off series is in development, though they haven’t revealed which character it will center around yet.
