A popular post-apocalyptic TV show from the 2010s is leaving Netflix. During that decade, The CW played a big role in shaping pop culture with shows like The Vampire Diaries and its many DC-based series, offering something for all viewers. Soon, it will be more difficult to watch this show online.
In December 2025, Netflix will be removing the sci-fi series The 100 from its streaming library. Created by Jason Rothenberg, the show is adapted from the popular young adult novels by Kass Morgan. The 100 originally aired on The CW for seven seasons, totaling 100 episodes, and was a popular show during its run.
The 100 departs Netflix on Dec. 18, where two other popular The CW alumni will join it as well.
Other CW Shows Leaving Netflix in December
In December, several shows previously available on Netflix and originally aired on The CW will be removed. Along with The 100, Supernatural and Arrow are also leaving the platform on the same day. This affects all 15 seasons of Supernatural and all eight seasons of Arrow.
I’m a huge fan of Supernatural – it’s incredible that it lasted so long, becoming one of The CW’s most enduring shows! Seeing Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki as Dean and Sam Winchester, battling monsters week after week, was amazing. It actually started on The WB before that network became The CW, and somehow, against all odds, it kept going for over 300 episodes! It’s a true testament to the show and its fans.
The CW’s first live-action DC series was Arrow, featuring Stephen Amell as the hero known as the Green Arrow. Interestingly, the show generally avoided actually calling him by that name. Arrow‘s popularity paved the way for the ‘Arrowverse,’ a connected universe of DC television shows.
The show Arrow was the starting point for several other superhero series, including The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Black Lightning, and Batwoman. These shows sometimes featured shared storylines, most notably in the large-scale event called Crisis on Infinite Earths.
Critical Reception to The 100 Is Overwhelmingly Positive
The show The 100 first aired in March 2014 and received positive reviews, earning a ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes for its first season. Critics gave it a 76% approval rating, while audiences scored it slightly higher at 78%. These were actually the lowest ratings the show would receive throughout its run.
The show The 100 consistently received positive reviews, with each season generally scoring higher than the last. Season 2 earned a perfect 100% rating, followed by Season 3 with 83%, Season 4 with 93%, and then Seasons 5, 6, and 7 all achieving perfect 100% scores. It’s unusual for a TV series to see its critical reception improve over time, but that’s exactly what happened with The 100.
The show is set in a future where Earth was devastated by a nuclear war, forcing humans to leave the planet. Nearly a century later, a group of 100 young offenders are sent back to see if it’s habitable. They unexpectedly find that others have already survived and are living there.
You have until Dec. 18 to stream all seasons of The 100 on Netflix.
