Disney+ Just Brought Back Marvel’s White Tiger — 8 Months After His MCU Death

The White Tiger is back on Disney+, but this time as a LEGO version! Just eight months after the character’s sad ending in the live-action Daredevil: Born Again, the White Tiger appears in the animated special LEGO Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails. While the main Marvel Cinematic Universe is getting darker, this LEGO adventure is a fun and lighthearted tribute to the hero, teaming them up with some unexpectedly furry friends.

The new Disney+ animated special, LEGO Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails, premiered on November 14th and offers a lighter adventure, shifting away from the epic storyline of the Multiverse Saga to center on a magical problem caused by cats.

The second part of this special finds the Avengers facing a huge, unexpected problem: a city overrun by magical cats! They’re completely unprepared, so a new team – the Cat-vengers – assembles. This team includes White Tiger, alongside Black Cat and Tigra, joining forces with Black Panther and the other Avengers. A stressed Hawkeye, struggling with both the cat chaos and a damaged reputation, also joins the effort as they try to resolve this “purr-plexing” situation.

White Tiger and a team of feline heroes sneak into the fortress of Attuma, a powerful Atlantean warrior. They’re on a dangerous mission to steal an ancient trident – the only thing that can stop Meryet, a social media star with newly gained magical abilities and a strange obsession with cats.

The climactic battle is a whirlwind of action. After obtaining the trident, the team surfaces to confront Meryet, who is broadcasting her attempt to take over the world online to gain more followers. Working together, they successfully defeat the Sphinx that Meryet created. Hawkeye then uses the trident like a powerful arrow, delivering the final, decisive strike that destroys the creature.

The return of LEGO characters happens less than a year after the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) sadly said goodbye to its first live-action White Tiger, Hector Ayala. The late actor Kamar de los Reyes portrayed Ayala in the series Daredevil: Born Again (which began streaming in March 2025), and his story was a deeply emotional part of the show. Viewers saw him wrongly accused of a crime, then cleared of the charges, only to be tragically killed shortly after being released.

Staying true to the original story meant the series lost a strong, relatable character when Hector died. Fans were sad to see a long-time hero go, so it was great to see him return in the animated series, Strange Tails.

What’s Next For White Tiger in the MCU?

Even as a LEGO White Tiger battles mystical felines, the character’s future in live-action is taking a significant turn. Hector Ayala’s death in the first season wasn’t the end of the White Tiger; it was the beginning of a new story. Daredevil: Born Again revealed Hector’s niece, Angela del Toro (played by Camila Rodriguez), and gave her the Jade Tiger amulets – the source of the White Tiger’s powers – hinting at her upcoming transformation.

Now that filming for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again is finished and a 2026 release is planned, fans are eager to see the character Angela introduced. Based on the comics, Angela del Toro is an FBI agent who learns from Matt Murdock and eventually takes on the mantle of a vigilante. This transformation – from someone working within the legal system to someone outside of it – fits well with the show’s exploration of justice and what’s right versus what’s legal.

New photos from the set of Born Again Season 2 reveal that Angela is taking action without waiting for approval. Pictures taken during filming in New York City show Camila Rodriguez dressed for the field, but her outfit is different from the more formal look her uncle usually wears.

While Hector favors a high-tech, tactical suit, Angela seems to be starting her vigilante work with a more rough-and-ready, homemade style – currently, she’s been seen in a hoodie and bandana to hide her face. This suggests she’s figuring things out as she goes, probably tracking down those responsible for her family’s misfortune, all while Kingpin’s new task force tries to shut down all vigilantes.

Angela taking on the role of White Tiger will likely shake things up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unlike her predecessor, who was experienced, Angela will probably struggle with the responsibility of the role and the negative effects of the magical amulets. A key part of the next season could focus on whether she teams up with or clashes with Daredevil.

Angela del Toro Could Become a Key Member of the Young Avengers

Angela del Toro, also known as White Tiger, has a promising future within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the MCU introducing a new wave of heroes, starting with Kamala Khan in The Marvels, White Tiger is a strong possibility to join a team like the Young Avengers.

Although Angela wasn’t originally part of the team in the comics, Marvel Studios often changes team lineups to suit its movies. Angela brings a much-needed gritty, realistic energy to the group. While some potential members like Wiccan, Speed, and America Chavez face huge, universe-level dangers, and others like Cassie Lang and Ironheart rely on advanced technology, Angela offers a more down-to-earth fighting style, similar to Kate Bishop, but with a mystical twist.

Adding her to the team would make it incredibly interesting and strong. The second season of Daredevil: Born Again could be a difficult but important experience for her, helping her grow from someone mourning a loss into a capable hero. If she can overcome the challenges of New York’s criminal world, she might be a good fit for the Young Avengers soon.
