With Thanksgiving finished, the Christmas season is here! A familiar Christmas comedy featuring Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn is gaining popularity on streaming services as the holidays approach.
According to Flix Patrol, the 2008 film Four Christmases, starring Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn, has climbed to number seven on the list of most-streamed movies on HBO Max in the U.S., jumping two spots in just one day. It’s also currently ranked eighth on Hulu’s list of top streaming films.
Directed by Seth Gordon and written by Matt R. Allen, Caleb Wilson, Jon Lucas, and Scott Moore, Four Christmases features Vince Vaughn as Bradford McVie (formerly Orlando McVie) and Reese Witherspoon as his girlfriend, Kate Kinkaid. Though they’re happy together, neither Bradford nor Kate is eager to get married or have children, which causes friction with each other and their families.
The movie Four Christmases stars Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn, and boasts a large cast of well-known actors including Robert Duvall, Mary Steenburgen, Tim McGraw, Sissy Spacek, Jon Favreau, Carol Kane, Jeanette Miller, and Kristin Chenoweth, among others. However, despite its impressive cast, the film wasn’t well-received by critics or general audiences.
When Four Christmases came out in theaters, it received largely negative reviews, with critics finding the story and script beyond repair, even with its famous actors. Currently, the film has a 25% “rotten” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and audiences give it a 47% approval rating. Despite an interesting premise and a cast of well-known stars, it hasn’t gained a dedicated fanbase or become a beloved classic.
Although critics didn’t love Four Christmases, the movie still made a decent amount of money. It earned over $163.7 million in theaters, despite costing $80 million to make – mostly due to the cost of the actors. While most films need to earn 2.5 times their budget to be considered successful, Four Christmases at least made back what it cost to produce.
What’s Next for Four Christmases and Legally Blonde Star Reese Witherspoon?
Reese Witherspoon, known for her recent romantic comedy You’re Cordially Invited, will be an executive producer on a new series called Elle launching in mid-2026 on Amazon Prime. The show will be a prequel to Legally Blonde, following Witherspoon’s character, Elle Woods, during her high school years in the 1990s.
In April, viewers were delighted to see Taylor Swift’s complete set design, wardrobe, and decorations all in shades of perfect pink. Alongside Minetree, Elle will feature June Diane Raphael and Tom Everett Scott as Elle’s parents, Eva and Wyatt, as well as Chandler Kinney as Kimberly, Jacob Maskovitz as Miles, Gabrielle Policano as Liz, and Zac Looker as Dustin.
Four Christmases is currently available for streaming on Hulu and HBO Max.
