John Cena Reacts After WWE Had A Little Person Impersonate Him

Wrestling fans are still buzzing about the latest episode of Monday Night Raw. During the show, WWE brought out a little person performer for a segment they haven’t done in years. The segment involved Dominik Mysterio and a performer nicknamed “Mini Cena,” who issued a challenge to Mysterio leading up to the Survivor Series: WarGames event.

Dominik easily won against his opponent, and fans have been talking about it all week. We finally got a reaction from John Cena on Friday, and true to form, he shared it through a mysterious post on Instagram. He often uses his account to comment on things like Taylor Swift and his wrestling career. This time, it seemed like a direct reference to the recent segment featuring a smaller version of himself – check it out:

John Cena frequently shares a meme format featuring “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, but replaces Austin’s image with someone else. This time, he used a picture of Syko, a popular wrestler from the Micro Championship Wrestling promotion and the TLC show Big Little Brawlers.

More On John Cena

John Cena admits he made a mistake early in his acting career: he should have taken more risks and not played it safe. He feels he stuck to roles he thought he could easily handle instead of challenging himself, and now realizes he should have embraced opportunities that might have led to failure.

Cena’s post seems to confirm he knew about the segment and wanted to recognize Syko, who famously played “Mini Cena” on Monday Night Raw. Getting a mention on John Cena’s Instagram is a big deal for anyone, but it’s especially meaningful for a fellow wrestler.

In 2024, wrestler Syko discussed the need for more little people to be represented in WWE and AEW with TopMob. Currently, Syko and his wife, Pinky Shortcake, wrestle for Micro Championship Wrestling, a federation that showcases little people wrestlers across the country. It’s great to see Syko featured on WWE television after speaking up about this, and even more so that John Cena publicly acknowledged him.

Although WWE hasn’t used wrestlers with dwarfism as much recently, they did bring back Hornswoggle earlier this year with a Legends contract. This could be a sign they plan to include more little people in the future, or it might have just been a special appearance.

It’s unclear how the company will respond, as reactions to the segment were very mixed. Wrestling analyst Dave Meltzer, on Wrestling Observer Radio, compared it to something from the time Vince McMahon was in charge, calling it old-fashioned for today’s audience.

Many on X (formerly Twitter) enjoyed the segment, including the performer, Syko, who called appearing on Monday Night Raw a lifelong dream and expressed his gratitude. I hope he gets invited back for another appearance at Survivor Series: WarGames, but with John Cena potentially wrestling his last matches, that might not be possible.
