Deidre Hall was a soap opera actress who had worked in show business for decades.
The 78-year-old actress is famous for her role as Marlena Evans on the soap opera Days of Our Lives.
Oh my gosh, she was Hope Logan, and she played her for a staggering 45 years! Can you believe it? And she deserved so much more recognition, honestly. Three Daytime Emmy nominations? It should have been three wins! She is Hope, and she absolutely nailed it for decades.
Before gaining wider recognition, Hall made appearances on well-known television series such as The Streets of San Francisco, Emergency!, and Columbo. More recently, she was seen on the show Hacks.
The talented actress was spotted in Los Angeles on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, volunteering at the 2025 Thanks & Giving event for those experiencing homelessness at the Los Angeles Mission. It was a rare public appearance for her.
She volunteered with Jodie Sweetin, Nicole Eggert, Blanca Blanco, and Danny Trejo to serve Thanksgiving meals to people experiencing homelessness.
See how amazing she still looks today as she approached her eighties.

Originally from Wisconsin and raised in Florida, this person moved to Los Angeles after completing studies at Palm Beach Junior College.
That is where she began modeling and getting commercials. Then she got into acting on TV.
In 1976, she landed the role of Electra Woman in the live-action kids’ show, Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, which aired on Saturday mornings.
Hall acted in several television series, notably as Nurse Sally Lewis on the first two seasons of Emergency! and as Barbara Anderson on The Young and the Restless.
She then was cast on Days of Our Lives in 1976 as Dr. Marlena Evans.
Starting in 1986, Hall portrayed Jessie Witherspoon in the TV series Our House, a family drama that lasted for two seasons. Shannen Doherty played her daughter on the show.
But juggling two shows at the same time became stressful so she left Days of Our Lives in 1987.
Our House was cancelled in 1988 and then she took some time off.
Hall appeared on several popular TV shows until March 1991, when she rejoined the cast of Days of Our Lives.
I worked on that show for a total of 18 years, and honestly, it was a bit of a shock when my contract wasn’t renewed. It all came down to budget cuts, which are unfortunately pretty common in the industry. My last day was January 24th, 2009, and while it was sad to leave, I understood it was a business decision.

In 1995, Deidre Hall created and acted in the TV movie Never Say Never: The Deidre Hall Story, which detailed her personal experiences trying to have a family.
In 2010, Deidre Hall published her cookbook, Deidre Hall’s Kitchen Closeup. The following year, in 2011, she made a guest appearance in the final episode of Lifetime’s series, Drop Dead Diva.
In 2024, Hall played a fictionalized version of herself on the HBO Max series Hacks.
She has been married four times. Her husbands were William Hudson (married 1966-1970), singer Keith Barbour (1972-1977), producer and writer Michael Dubelko (1987-1989), and author/screenwriter Steve Sohmer (married December 31, 1991, and divorced in 2006).
Hall and Sohmer have two sons: David Atticus Sohmer and Tully Chapin Sohmer, born via surrogate.

Before marrying Barbour and after divorcing Dubelko, Hall was in a relationship with Louisiana State Senator Ned Randolph in the early 1980s.
The Mission event went off well on Thursday.
To prepare for Thanksgiving, Los Angeles Mission and Hope the Mission teamed up to provide meals and support to people in downtown Los Angeles.
About 2,500 turkey meals will serve those in need at the LA Mission on Skid Row.
Hope the Mission is open around the clock, every day of the year. According to President Rowan Vansleve, people can come to any of our locations and begin a path away from homelessness and despair, towards employment and a better future, free from addiction.

‘It’s incredible work, and today is truly one of the highlights,’ it was added.
There were other things given out like clothing, free haircuts, manicures, and pedicures.
Many people have needed help recently, particularly after SNAP benefits were reduced at the start of the month.
Our community really needed groceries, and we were able to provide them,” said Dennis Oleesky, CEO of the LA Mission. “We handled it quite well.
‘Now we’re back on track for our regular programs.’
These organizations combined offer over 3,000 beds throughout Los Angeles County for men, women, and families. They provide both urgent help for those currently experiencing homelessness and programs designed to prevent people from becoming homeless in the first place.
