Released in 1999, The Blair Witch Project is a truly terrifying horror film. This low-budget, independent movie gained huge popularity after premiering at the Sundance Film Festival and remains one of the scariest films ever made.

Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez, the directors of the film, developed the story of the Blair Witch, which has become widely known in popular culture. The movie centers around three students who venture into the Appalachian Mountains to film a documentary and experience a terrifying ordeal.

Here’s what’s new on Netflix this week: The Holdovers, 21 Jump Street, The Aviator, The Birdcage, The Cabin in the Woods, and the original Carrie from 1976.

Best movie new to Prime Video this week

Man, the first Final Destination movie is a classic! It’s seriously the worst-case scenario for anyone who gets anxious about flying. It’s basically about a group of students who cheat death on a plane, only to find out Death wants its due. It’s a total nostalgic horror ride!

In the movie, Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) has a terrifying vision of a plane crash and desperately tries to get his friends to evacuate. While some listen, those who survive the flight soon face a series of gruesome and darkly humorous deaths. It’s a good choice if you’re planning to rewatch the whole Final Destination series before checking out the new installment, Final Destination: Bloodlines.

This week on Prime Video, you can also watch Clown in a Cornfield, Apocalypse Clown, and Kingsman: The Secret Service.

Best movie new to iPlayer this week

Before starring in the Netflix series Black Doves, Keira Knightley was in the 2019 film Official Secrets, a drama based on a real-life story involving espionage.

The movie tells the true story of Katharine Gun, a British intelligence analyst played by Keira Knightley, who leaked a secret memo. The memo revealed a plan by the US and UK governments to manipulate the United Nations into supporting the 2003 invasion of Iraq. The film also stars Matt Smith and Ralph Fiennes.

Also new to iPlayer this week: Planes, Trains and Automobiles, The Idea of You.

Best movie new to ITVX this week

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s iconic film, Jaws. The movie tells the story of a terrifying great white shark that terrorizes the small beach town of Amity Island, and the desperate attempt to stop it.

When a badly damaged body washes up on the beach, panic spreads on the mainland. Police Chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) teams up with marine biologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss), who believes a massive shark is responsible.

This gripping and violent thriller remains effective after fifty years and would pair perfectly with the 2025 film, Dangerous Animals.

Also new to ITVX this week: Skyfall.

Best movie new to Channel 4 this week

Enjoy a captivating performance by Josh O’Connor in Mothering Sunday, a 2021 period drama directed by Eva Husson. You might recognize O’Connor from his current role in Wake Up Dead Man, part of the Knives Out series, but this film showcases one of his earlier successes.

Based on Graham Swift’s novel, the film Mothering Sunday explores hidden family truths, societal differences, and a powerful romance. While the story itself has some pacing issues, the movie shines thanks to beautiful cinematography and strong acting, particularly from Odessa Young, who plays the central character, Jane Fairchild.

Also new to Channel 4 this week: Vengeance, Men.

The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! You can purchase Ariana & Witches at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
