Lewis Capaldi is swarmed by fans as he touches down in Sydney ahead of Australian tour

Lewis Capaldi certainly received a hero’s welcome when he touched down in Sydney this week.

The popular Scottish singer, age 29, is currently in Australia for his much-awaited tour. All of his concerts across the country are sold out.

And Lewis cut quite the casual figure for his flight, stepping out in a plain black Nike hoodie.

He was wearing brown shorts that ended at his knees, and white Reebok sneakers.

Lewis finished his outfit with white earbuds, possibly listening to the music he’ll play for his fans in Australia soon.

Lewis seemed truly happy to be back in Australia, happily holding a water bottle. He was especially glad to return after his previous tour was cancelled in 2023.

Lewis’s Australian fans were thrilled to see him return! A large crowd gathered at Sydney Airport to welcome the star, proving that being apart made them appreciate him even more.

Lewis was happy to mingle with eager fans who flocked to the singer to snap some selfies.

Let me tell you, meeting this performer was such a treat! He was incredibly kind and happy to take photos with everyone. What really struck me was how fans – young and old – just wanted a moment to connect with him personally. It really speaks to how genuine and likeable he is!

Lewis will start his Australian tour at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on December 4th. He’ll then perform three shows at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on December 6th, 7th, and 9th.

The tour will continue to Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on December 10th, 12th, and 13th, then move to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on December 15th. The final show will be held at Perth’s RAC Arena on Wednesday, December 17th.

Lewis last visited Australia for the Falls Festival in 2019. He disappointed many Australian fans when he had to cancel a planned tour.

He sincerely apologized to his Australian fans on Instagram, explaining that he won’t be touring for the time being.

He originally planned a tour of Australian cities – Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, and Melbourne – culminating with a performance at the Splendour in the Grass festival in Byron Bay.

The Scottish performer had to cancel his Australian tour because he was having ongoing difficulties managing his Tourette’s syndrome.

I’m really sorry to those who were planning to attend a show this year, but I need to prioritize my health so I can give the performance you all expect and deserve.

He shared that performing for his fans every night was a lifelong dream, making this a very difficult choice. He promised to return as soon as he’s able.

Fans weren’t surprised by the announcement, as the artist behind “Someone You Loved” had struggled to finish his performance at Glastonbury in 2023.

Lewis struggled to finish his songs during the performance because of his tics, which visibly upset him. The audience responded with a beautiful display of support by singing along with him.

Despite taking three weeks off before performing on the Pyramid Stage, he had to cancel the rest of his 24 scheduled concerts because it wasn’t enough time to recover.

He explained in his message that he used to love shows like this, and he’d hoped a three-week break would help him get back to enjoying them.

I’m still figuring out how to best manage living with Tourette’s. This weekend made it clear that I need to prioritize my well-being, both mentally and physically, so I can continue doing the things I enjoy for years to come.

I’m very grateful for the opportunity to take time for myself, knowing not everyone can. I want to thank my wonderful family, friends, team, doctors, and all of you for your incredible support, especially during a challenging past year when I really needed it.

The singer-songwriter took a break from music to focus on his mental health. Now, he realizes he also needed to step away from the music business entirely.

He explained that he didn’t prioritize self-care or dedicate time to improving his well-being, as he shared in an advertisement for BetterHelp, an online therapy service.

‘I took a break because I needed a break, and to sort of release the pressure valve a little bit.’

Fans were thrilled to see Lewis return to the stage after a quiet period, delivering a fantastic performance at Glastonbury this June.
