MIBR GC showed incredible determination and secured a top-four finish at the Game Changers Championship 2025, defeating the heavily favored G2 Gozen in the process.
G2 Gozen’s loss to MIBR GC eliminates the final EMEA team from contention in the VALORANT Game Changers Championship 2025. MIBR GC won the 2-1 match, guaranteeing them a top-four placement. This result means the final four teams in the championship are all from the Americas region.
G2 mimi: It hurts a lot.
G2 Gozen were the first champions of GCC in 2022. Michaela “mimi” Lintrup, the last remaining member of that winning team, expressed disappointment with their elimination this year.
We finished in 6th place, and honestly, it’s really disappointing. Both games were incredibly close, and either team could have won. They managed to gain momentum, and we struggled to overcome that, said mimi. There’s nothing we can do about it now, and it’s tough, but we’re still thankful for the opportunity to compete. The girls fought hard all year, and even though we didn’t get the results we wanted, I’m really proud of them.
I’ve discovered that experience is incredibly valuable. I also realized today that clear communication is essential for any team, and unfortunately, a lack of it led to our loss.

I’m really rooting for Esllene “Akita” Xu, but this was a tough first international competition for her. She said it was a great experience overall, but she wasn’t happy with how she played. Apparently, she’s been dealing with a wrist injury since the beginning of Split 2 and just hasn’t had enough time to heal before competing.
MIBR’s resilience, confidence, and strength
Okay, so MIBR definitely had to work for those two map wins – they weren’t easy by any means! G2 absolutely crushed them on the second map, though. But honestly, the team kept saying they were still feeling really confident, even after that tough loss, which was cool to see.
As a fan, it’s awesome to hear srN talk about how we always fight back! He says we’re a team built on bouncing back from tough spots, and that we really believe in ourselves to get the job done. It’s that belief, he says, that actually makes it happen.
This win isn’t just for our team, it’s a victory for all of Brazil. And as a non-binary person, this moment feels especially powerful and empowering.
Camila “sayuri” Obam emphasized the importance of staying calm under pressure. She explained that having a little time to think is crucial, and it’s tempting to rush things in tense moments. “We have 40 seconds, so let’s chill,” she said, advocating for trusting in communication and making thoughtful individual decisions rather than panicking.
Head coach Marcelo “pleets” Leite praised his team’s performance, saying he simply had faith in the players and their dedication. He emphasized the importance of maintaining belief throughout the competition, highlighting their resilience and adaptability. He specifically commended Paula Naguil (“bstrdd”) for her outstanding performance, stating she was “killing everyone.”
I felt really good about our chances, and the score wasn’t my main concern. I just knew we were going to win. I didn’t focus on the possibility of losing – we were all completely united as a team. Everyone understands how much potential we have, and that gives us a lot of confidence and stability,” Giulia “lissA” Lissa explained.
MIBR vs G2 Gozen in GCC 2025
This was a lengthy series. The best-of-three went the distance, and two maps went on overtime.
MIBR GC barely won the first map. They started strong, but G2 fought back with eight rounds in a row, forcing the game into overtime. MIBR ultimately took the map with two overtime rounds, though it was a much tighter match than they likely expected.
G2 chose Sunset as the map, and they played it very well, easily defeating MIBR with a strong first half score of 10-2 and finishing the match 13-5.
G2 started the deciding match strong, taking a 10-2 lead in the first half. It looked like MIBR wouldn’t be able to recover, but they turned things around completely in the second half, forcing the game into overtime. Ultimately, MIBR completed an incredible comeback, defeating G2 in a very close match.
