Zootopia 2 has multiple Disney crossovers that you won’t spot, including their “good luck charm”

The sequel to Zootopia is now playing in theaters! Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are back with a new case, and the movie features some familiar voices from other Disney films.

Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman are back as Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, the animal cops from the 2016 movie Zootopia. The new Disney sequel also features Ke Huy Quan as a pit viper named Gary De’Snake, joining the cast.

Disney recently shared a behind-the-scenes look at how they filmed all the cameos in their new movie. The video, released through D23, highlights appearances by several stars, including Alan Tudyk, who Disney considers a lucky charm.

What to Read Next

I was so excited to see Josh Gad – you know, the voice of Olaf from Frozen – pop up in Zootopia 2! He plays this really funny, kinda grumpy mole named Paul Moledebrandt, and he’s hilarious.

Auliʻi Cravalho, Rachel House, and Dwayne Johnson, the stars of Moana, make brief appearances as the characters Anti-Venom Pen, Gramma Taller, and dik-dik Zeke.

But there are more stars joining in the fun for the second film, which is Certified Fresh on
Rotten Tomatoes
with a score of 91% at the time of writing.

Josh Dallas, who previously starred with Goodwin in Once Upon a Time, returns as Frantic Pig from the first Zootopia movie. Stephanie Beatriz, known for her work in Encanto, provides the voice for Bloats.

June Squibb, a well-known actress who has lent her voice to films like Toy Story 4 and Inside Out 2, will be playing the character Gram Gram in Zootopia 2.

Okay, so Nathan Fillion isn’t the only Disney regular! Alan Tudyk is everywhere. I recognized his voice immediately from so many animated movies – he did Heihei in Moana and King Candy in Wreck-It Ralph. And he even played Duke Weaselton in the first Zootopia, which was basically a fun nod to his character, the Duke of Weselton, from Frozen. Seriously, the guy’s a Disney legend!

In Zootopia 2, he also voices French Chef – a grumpy raccoon who discovers a lion chef’s secret.

When the first Moana came out in 2016, Tudyk playfully suggested he was Disney’s good luck charm, joking that he was responsible for the studio’s recent string of hit movies.

Honestly, I remember him jokingly telling D23 that he thought their winning streak was all thanks to him! He was clearly having fun with it.

I don’t want to reveal another reason at this time, so I’ll stick with the one I’ve already given. I’m concerned that if I mention another reason, people might realize it relates to John Lasseter, and I’d rather focus on the exceptional quality and filmmaking process behind these movies.

Zootopia 2 is in cinemas now.

The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! You can find Ariana & Witches at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
